The holiday home at Erve Den Dam was built in 2011 in an old Twente barn from 1909, probably the year the farm was built. The barn was renovated using mostly old building materials in order to remain in the style of the early 20th century. The tiles and other materials remaining in the house were reused and supplemented.

A fireplace was cut from a large Bentheimer stone foundation plinth from a historic farm in the area - Erve Ziethof Bee, located in Ambt Delden - which was demolished before the year 2000. Doors from this farm were also reused. Straight through the apartment are the oak trusses that form the basis of the building. The entire room was equipped with central heating with underfloor heating. The L-shaped room contains the kitchen with all modern comforts, such as a combination microwave, induction hob with extractor hood and dishwasher. In the full kitchen, in addition to a kettle, there is always coffee for the Senseo machine, various. types of tea and various herbs. In the room a TV with 65 channels, radio and internet connection; also wifi. All windows are located on South and West, the flat skylights provide sufficient light. A private southwest-facing terrace - equipped with garden furniture - provides sun and privacy. The bedroom contains 2 single beds of 80x200 cm with electric controls, equipped with sheep's wool duvets. The beds are made if you request this when booking. If not, you must bring all bedding yourself. (pillowcases, bottom sheets and single duvet covers) The bathroom has a shower, toilet and a spacious sink. There are shower towels, washcloths, tea towels and kitchen towels available for this purpose. The utility room contains the central heating system, wardrobe, washing machine with washing lines, vacuum cleaner and storage space. There is room in a small shed for bicycles that can be charged there. Surface of the house approximately 65 m2.

The farm itself from 1909 was renovated between 1970 and 1976. From the year 2000, the entire complex has the status of an estate within the meaning of the Nature Conservation Act 1928, after various adjacent lands were purchased for a total of more than 6 hectares. The estate status requires that 1/3 of the land must be planted or forested. Many hedges were also planted. The grounds consist of pasture, an orchard, various areas of forest and sheep pastures, totaling over 6 hectares. Over the years, gardens were laid out according to color. Once a year the garden was open to members of Groei en Bloei – Hengelo department. An extensive report about the garden was included in the October 2011 issue of the magazine Groei en Bloei (page 44). The garden could also be visited through the Dutch Garden Foundation. Dogs are welcome, but they must always be on a leash outside the house due to grazing sheep. The house is wheelchair friendly and entirely on one level.
In addition to its own grounds, there is plenty of privacy and a completely green view of the landscape.

Directions:
Coming from the West via the A1 to Deventer, cross the IJsselbrug. After about 30 km take exit no. 28, Rijssen and Goor. At the bottom of the exit, turn right onto the N347. Drive all the way to the first traffic lights. Turn right here into Goor, not on the main road but on the parallel road that is right next to it. After about 400 meters - before the place name sign Goor - take the entrance with house no. 121 and 123. Drive around the house and another 500 meters. Then comes the Erve Den Dam Estate.

I wish the guests in the holiday home a wonderful and relaxing time in which they should lack for nothing. I have done my best to make it attractive, rural and atmospheric. There is much to see and experience in the area. There is a lot of information in the house.

Explanation of prices

All rates for a week will be sent to you without obligation, with all associated conditions.
All prices are exclusive of tourist tax and bed linen, but include firewood, bath and kitchen linen. If you would like to find beds made up upon arrival, you can indicate this when booking. Costs €15.00.

Please note: a changeover day is always a Friday. The arrival and departure times are: arrival from 3:00 PM on Friday and departure on Friday morning at 10:00 AM. Because the holiday home is located on a long private road and the TomTom often does not display this, directions are sent on request.
Only reservations for a full week are possible. Midweek and Weekend are cancelled. The house is wheelchair friendly, but consultation in advance is wise.


Additional costs €50 deposit that will be refunded upon departure after the inspection
Cleaning costs €35,--
Bed making €15 optional, to be stated when booking. If this is not desired, 2 pillowcases, 2 fitted bottom sheets and 2 single duvet covers must be brought with you.
Tourist tax € 1.05 per person per night, e.g. € 14.70 per week for 2 people
There will be a discount for stays longer than 2 weeks.
The following applies to Easter, Ascension Day and Pentecost: If a reservation includes one or more of the aforementioned holidays, an additional charge of 50 euros applies in that week. The full amount must be paid two weeks before the arrival day.

Gas costs may be charged in the winter months of November to March.

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

There are many walking and cycling routes in the holiday home, especially those over the Landgoed Twickel. Twickel - the largest estate in the Netherlands - has beautiful gardens and a nice gift shop. There are several eateries and restaurants in Goor and Delden. The Rijksmuseum Twente in Enschede has a lot to offer. There is a golf club outside Delden, but farmer's golf is also possible in the municipality. In Enter there is a Zompenmuseum where a historic cargo ship can be visited and you can take a trip on the Regge with such a historic newly built ship.
