House 136 Mechelerhof

8.1

The Nits had a big hit with the song: In The Dutch Mountains. This beautiful 2- to 4-person holiday cottage 136 is situated in this Dutch mountains. The cottage is part of a stylish, architect-designed outdoor area with lots of greenery. Ideal for hiking, biking, holds beautiful scenery and tranquility. The spacious area consists of three courtyards (of Mechelerhof), in the style of Limburg half-timbered farmhouses. Each farm houses several cottages. Each home is unique.

From 136 House you can enjoy both summer and winter with a beautiful view over the hills of Limburg. Apartment 136 is modernly decorated with attention to detail and natural materials and has an unusual layout. The kitchen is located at the bottom of the house. Through the large windows you have a panoramic view. By going up the stairs you reach the living room with loft. Despite the large glass there is plenty of privacy by balustrade in the living room. Top of the building there are two 2-pers. bedrooms, a second toilet and a bathroom. There are extras like a microwave, a dishwasher, flat screen TV and underfloor heating. Of course there is free WiFi throughout the property. Outside there is a spacious private terrace. The cottage has an really nice view and only on one side neighbors.

Micazu member since August 2016

We are Theo and Suzan and our cottage was 136 love at first sight. We love to be there, together or with friends. To enjoy the tranquility and beautiful scenery. And to explore the area. Fantastic from here too 'moment' to go to Belgium or Germany. Suzan is a designer and artist, and from this inspiring place she likes to work on its digital graphics and assignments. We share this place with you like!

Additional information

Around 136 Cottage
By foot, bike, mountain bike, horseback, motorcycle or car: you can start your trip easily from Mechelen. Scenic routes, which run along breathtaking vistas. Along Limburg estates, castles and abbeys. By forests, hills, valleys and meadows. Along the flowing water of the rivers Geul and Gulp. On the accompanying map, we already have some of our favorites stated. But actually there is so much to do in this area, that we ourselves have not even seen and done it all!

We would like to present to you the following options:

wellness

In the area you will find a variety of wellness activities (Thermae 2000 in Valkenburg, the Carolus thermal spa in Aachen). A visit to subtropical swimming paradise in Gulpen Mosaqua is even one time for free, for guests of the Mechelerhof (and discounts for multiple visits).

Burgundian
For those who love to enjoy culinary, there are several restaurants in Mechelen with small menu and some good restaurants.

some gems in the region for true gourmets:
- Restaurant Infini, Wahlwiller (5 min.)
- Biorestaurant Viva Lanterne Wahlwiller (5 min.)
- Restaurant L'Atelier, Gulpen (10 min.)
- Grand Café Neubourg, Gulpen (10 min.)
- Restaurant of the Chateau Preuverie Gilbert Wijnandsrade (20 min.)
- Vanilla Restaurant, Eijsden (30 min.)

Who wants to know more about the region brewed beverages can turn to several traditional breweries. A visit to one of the many vineyards brings Mediterranean living very close!

sportive
Apart from walking, cycling and swimming, there is a variety of other sports facilities:
- Directly next to House 136 are 4 tennis courts (clay) and a special (children's) tennis practice course
- you can play a game of jeu-de-boules at the Mechelerhof
- South Limburg Golf & Country Club is just two kilometers away
- Make your Children happy on rainy days with Leisure Dome and Glow-in-the-dark miniature golf (both in Kerkrade)
- Climbing and scrambling at climbing park SnowWorld Landgraaf and ROCCA Sport & Adventure in Gulpen.

Cultural / Historical
In the cultural field, there are several major international events such as the summer theater festival Cultura Nova in Heerlen, the Orlando Festival (chamber music) in Kerkrade and the Festival PAS + (Track or ART and Science) Maastricht.

There are several museums and historical sites. A small selection:
- Bonnefantenmuseum Maastricht Museum Vaals, SCHUNCK Heerlen, or Dutch Mining Museum, Heerlen
- Discover the Roman city Coriovallum hidden under Heerlen, in the Thermenmuseum
- Bring a Fun and educational visit to the Columbus Center Kerkrade Earth
- Less fun, but very impressive: American Cemetery Margraten military cemetery and WOII memorial to the deceased American soldiers.

On Buitenplaats De Mechelerhof at the reception tourist information.
There are also hiking and biking trails available to help you on your way.

Own bike not included? No worries! There are several types of bikes for rent at the reception of the outdoor area.
Vineyard St. Martin (at the mountain village of Vijlen) on August 28, 2016 again named best vineyard in the Netherlands and Belgium! From De Mechelerhof House 136 you walk so to. Especially with this beautiful weather it is great fun to take a look at this Vineyard - enjoy the beautiful terrace or participate in guided tour or tasting!
Walk, bike or take the car for the scenic drive to this tiny Belgian village, where there are still some very nice places to grab a bite. Our favorites are Café Modern, housed in an old school. Enjoy on terrace or inside, have a look at its great interior. And the best of all: let the jazz band play!

And around the corner, at Mostert Hoeve, you find a vending machine containing delicious dairy products made locally...

We are still discovering it: the fun near us, just across the Belgian border (of course Germany is coming up soon). Here you are (send us your discoveries!):
- Teuven (see also for item 'Teuven')
- Enjoy a Burgundy in Aubel's euregional market
- abbaye de val dieu
- The very green Land of Herve
- Moresnet
(More information will follow soon)
Besides the beautiful nature there are many nice villages and places of interest nearby and three beautiful cities with a rich cultural offer: Maastricht, Liège and Aachen. More photos coming soon!
South Limburg is renowned for its Burgundian touch and high density of star (worthy) restaurants. Our close-up is absolutely Infini in Wahlwiller (3km).
Landcommanderij Alden Biesen, once built by the German knighthood, is an impressive castle with a huge domain. Visitors will find a beautiful French garden and an English park surrounded by a rolling landscape. It is fun walking around this well-preserved piece of history. Regularly there are exhibitions in the beautiful main building. You also can discover the true story in 'the Bilzen Mysteries': Step through the gate, turn on your tablet and walk along the mystery. The past and present merge into one great adventure full of spectacular visual, sound and light effects.
