We are a family with 4 children who have regularly spent weekends and holidays here for over 40 years. We have many fond memories of this: we are active nature lovers who love peace and quiet. We have walked and cycled here for many hours (through forest and through polders), swam and surfed, set out quests in the forest and found 'treasures'. It is nice to see how our now grown children are still enjoying themselves with their small children.

In the middle of the ancient forests of the Veluwe is Zandenplas recreation. A small and lovely forest pool with beach, where you can take a nice walk in the woods after a refreshing dip.
Swimmers and sun worshipers can splash up your tan while enjoying a drink. The beach kiosk offers a magnificent view of the recreation area.
The lake is mainly filled with rainwater and water from a small well. If there is little rain in the summer insufficient replenishment with fresh water occurs. The presence of many recreational and high temperature, the water then deteriorate quickly. Water quality is therefore constantly monitored by the administrator.

The lake is about 5 min walk from the Kokke Nest
In 2003, a National Forest Visitor Centre opened on the VT. The bulk of the exhibition is devoted to "the story of the Veluwe ': playfully makes the visitor with the miraculous nature of the Veluwe (about the history, the landscape and the different types of nature). There is a place reserved for the birds from the nearby Randmeer Area. Interesting for young and old. For children there is a Kabouterhut where they can discover the secret world of the forest gnomes and around the Visitor Centre is a special leprechaun route (approximately 700 m). Also provided is a activiteitenbos developed.
The Crown Estates are approximately 30 to 45 minutes by bike from the Kokke Nest.

Crown Estates consists of the Palace Park and the Royal Forestry and is located to the west of Apeldoorn. Extensive forests and heathlands set the scene. The area is more than 300 years associated with the House of Orange-Nassau. The commitment to the Orange has the Crown Estates formed into what it is today: a more than 10,000-acre estate with a rich cultural history, great biological diversity and many landscape clean. This gives the Crown Estates a unique position in the Veluwe in the Netherlands.

To the imposing seventeenth century Het Loo Palace is a beautiful garden surrounded by the Palace Park with valuable cultural and historical elements again. The Royal Forestry consists of vast forests and heaths. The park, the woods and moors form the Crown Estates.

Crown Estates is the largest contiguous estate in the Netherlands and is characterized by a rich cultural history, great biological diversity and many landscape clean. The area exudes tranquility, beauty and harmony in a vast scale and landscape.
