Bungalow

Nature house Frog

This nature house is located directly on a forest fen, in the middle of the Drenthe forests between Roden and Norg. You can hardly see the house from the road. When you drive up the driveway and you walk to the terrace you really have a phenomenal view. Through the many windows you can look out over the water from anywhere in the bungalow. Here the peace is only disturbed by birdsong and frogs croaking.

The house is fully furnished and equipped with central heating, WiFi, Sonos music system, electric sun screens and mosquito nets. The spacious living room has a lounge sofa, reading corner and a cozy wood stove. The spacious, well-equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, Nespresso and a cozy dining area. From the bedroom where the bed is made for you on arrival, you enter the bathroom with washing machine. See the sky and trees through the skylight above the shower stall.

You can relax in complete privacy on the terrace. It gets really dark here so in the evening when the weather is clear you can enjoy the starry sky. The nature house is located in the Duurentijdt nature reserve and is immediately surrounded by meadows, forests and heaths. Around the fen, which is not suitable for swimming, boating or fishing, there are still a number of houses. However, the houses are located in such a way that you hardly see each other. There are many beautiful bird species to be spotted such as the hawfinch, black and green woodpecker, bullfinch, tree falcon and the little grebe in the fen.

Directly from the door there are many walking and cycling paths to old and cozy villages such as Norg, Roden, Bakkeveen, not to mention the World Heritage village of Veenhuizen with the prison museum. Within walking distance is the Ronostrand, a recreational lake with catering. Groningen and Assen are about 20 kilometers away, with various other places of interest in addition to museums.

Accommodation can be booked per week as standard. Weekend and midweek in consultation due to availability of cleaning.

When we were given the opportunity to buy this house in 2022, we didn't have to think long. We had been looking for a while but it was difficult to find a house that met all our wishes: beautiful view, quiet and varied environment, light and spacious. In 2023 we renovated the house and besides being there ourselves as soon as we have the opportunity, we also want to give others the chance to enjoy the house and the place. See you in Drenthe!

Explanation of prices

If the tenant wishes to cancel the booking for whatever reason, the tenant must always confirm this to the landlord by e-mail (even if this has already been communicated to the landlord by telephone, for example). The landlord will charge the following amounts, depending on the date of written cancellation by the tenant:
  • cancellation more than 3 months before the start of the rental period: free of charge
  • cancellation between the 90th and the 60th day before the start of the rental period: 25% of the rental price
  • cancellation between the 59th and 30th day before the start of the rental period: 50% of the rental price
  • cancellation less than 30 days before the start of the rental period: 100% of the rental price
If the tenant only announces on the commencement date or during the rental period that he will not use the rented property (anymore), he will still owe the full rental price.

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

You don't come across a more versatile environment than the Kop van Drenthe. Primeval forests that invite you to take a brisk walk, marshes and dry sand plains. To then cycle into an open stream valley where the sun shines on the water. Highlanders and sheep on one of the beautiful moorlands and the
cows that still graze outside on the vast farmlands. A small selection of the beautiful nature reserves in the vicinity of our nature house:

Fochteloerveen
Experience what a large part of Drenthe once looked like. Splendid natural beauty, rare raised bogs where many special plants and animals live. Like cranes that breed here in our country for the first time in centuries. Truly a unique area.

Drenthe estates
Idyllic park forests from the 19th century, beech and oak avenues. The Mensinghe estate in Roden has been giving this beautiful area a special appearance for more than 600 years.

norscheveld
While walking, history becomes tangible. The heaths and forests of the Noorscheveld are home to many ancient cultural treasures. Here you will find prehistoric burial mounds and comb fields, which seem to take no notice of the grazing highlanders and goats.

Leekstermeer
In addition to beautiful forests, you will also find plenty of water in the versatile area in the vicinity of "de Norgerberg". Winding rivers and streams alternate with quiet fens, but also more extensive water such as the Leekstermeer. With a whisper boat you can explore this beautiful area where many water birds breed. Surrounded by the Ommelanden Nature Reserve, this is a completely different side of the Kop van Drenthe.

Norgerholt
One of the last primeval forests in the Netherlands, in the middle of a picturesque esdorp landscape. The Boermarke once met here, between four large oaks. This “meeting place” can still be found in the ancient forest.

Dolmens
If you are in Drenthe, you will of course want to see dolmens. Let yourself be transported back to prehistoric times. To the time when the first farmers settled in Drenthe. These farmers built the impressive stone grave monuments, the remains of which can still be admired in the Drenthe landscape. Hunebed D1 is a few minutes away by car, or only 5 km by bike. D1 is located just south of Roden in the Noorder Duinen near the hamlet that owes its name to the hunebed: Steenbergen. It is a beautiful, medium-sized hunebed. Do you want to learn more? Then visit the Hunebed Center in Borger. The Oertijdpark is open next to the museum. There you can experience how our ancestors lived in their farms. You can also take a walk through 150,000 years of Drenthe's history.
