The very spacious house is the merger of two separate houses, Philip and Kuit. The surface is 175 m2. The house is located entirely on the ground floor, has windows everywhere and incredibly beautiful panoramas, a lovely private south-facing garden, private terraces on north, east and south. On the west side a condominium terrace and on the south side three centuries-old condominium threshing floors with dining sets and parasols. With a twin bed, two double beds and two single beds, a total of eight sleeping places. The house has two bathrooms with shower and two fully equipped kitchens. See Casa Philip and Casa Kuit.
The location
Localita Rofena is centrally located in one of the most beautiful parts, if not the most beautiful part, of Tuscany: in the middle of the triangle of Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra. The first “dilemma” in the morning after getting up is where you are going to drink your espresso or cappuccino: in one of these nearby beautiful towns or in Casole d'Elsa (which rightly calls itself “Il cuore di Toscana”, the heart of Tuscany mentions): our own lovely mountain village a few kilometers from Rofena. Or "just" in Rofena itself…
Florence and Pisa, the coast, but also Montalcino (of the famous Brunello wine) and hot water bagnos are about 1-1.5 hours away. The Chianti valley is a fifteen-minute drive away. Siena (famous for the most beautiful square in the world and the Palio) is just half an hour away. Walking and cycling in Tuscany is great!
Rofena
Rofena is an old farm, a fattoria, probably from the 15th century. 22 homes have been built in and around the fattoria for Dutch owners. The private property covers a total of approximately 11 hectares. The German-speaking Sicilian custode (concierge) will assist if necessary.
The appeal of Rofena lies in its tranquility, amidst the overwhelming culture and nature of Tuscany. There are many swimming facilities in the immediate vicinity: luxurious and/or aimed at families, in rivers or in the old Etruscan bath. How about a hot spring water bagno?
You can take beautiful walks and bike rides around Rofena. And ... you can work well there thanks to the internet.
Casole d'Elsa
This beautiful Tuscan mini-town rightly calls itself “Il cuore di Toscana”, the heart of Tuscany. It is located 3 kilometers from Rofena, has around 3000 inhabitants and is classically situated on the top of the hill with sublime views all around. It has the typical Tuscan medieval appearance. Partly thanks to the enthusiastic mayor, there are several theaters and museums. The center has restaurants and shops with almost everything you need on a daily basis. If you need something special, you will undoubtedly find it in nearby Colle Di Val d'Elsa (20 minutes' drive) or Poggibonsi (half an hour).
Direct environment
Imaginative towns and landscapes:
. Siena (the Palio on July 2 and August 16 is something you must experience once in your life!),
. San Gimignano (the town with the Manhattan look alike towers on a Tuscan scale),
. Volterra (medieval, mysterious, Etruscan, and full of truffle specialties and alabaster),
. Monteriggioni (medieval fortress with good restaurants),
. Chianti: the extremely beautiful Chianti Valley, famous for the Chianti wine made from the Sangiovese grape, but also for beautiful towns and villages such as
. Radda and Greve.
. Bargino: The modern architecture lover goes for half a day to the brand new spectacular cantina (winery) of the Antinori wine family (you can also have a good lunch there!), or else to
. the open-air theater of the Bocelli family near Lajatico.
. And then we have cities such as Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Arezzo about an hour's drive away. No explanation necessary!
. Your day trip to the Val d'Orcia and the papal mini-town of Pienza from the 15th century (both World Heritage Heritage) is complete with your visit to the wine towns of Montepulciano and Montalcino (tip: taste the delicious Brunello in the Enoteca on the stage of the castle theater in Montalcino).
. Walking, cycling, swimming, golfing (several golf courses in the area, but in our opinion the most beautiful golf course in the world is in Castelfalvi.
Tuscany
No matter where in the world, almost everyone has at least heard of Tuscany. Who wouldn't want to stay in Tuscany and enjoy the culture and nature. In Tuscany, the cradle of Western culture is visible in the buildings, museums and the beautiful landscape designed by the best architect ever, De Tijd. Tuscan food is refined and simple at the same time. That includes Chianti wine!
And you can enjoy exploring, walking, cycling and relaxing in the beautiful nature.
