In the midst of many cultural cities such as Florence, Siena, Volterra, etc., our house is part of a former 'fattorìa', which has been divided into 20 apartments and is located opposite Casole d'Elsa, a very old town that you can see on a single photo. the hill opposite. From the parking lot you can see the skyline of San Gimignano in the distance with its famous towers.
But really every town in the area is a jewel. That makes Rofena ideally suited for day trips. Siena is less than 30 minutes by car and you can be in Florence in less than an hour. Even Rome, at 270 km. can be reached in a morning.
The house is on the ground floor, at the far end of the complex, with a lot of privacy. It has unparalleled views from the hillside, with its large private terrace (40 m²).
There you can enjoy the view over the adjacent forests and meadows where pigs roam with piglets. Sometimes you see wild boars along the edge of the forest. You will find peace there. There are no cars on the property. (Except on arrival and departure to unpack and pack). There is no swimming pool. There is a shower on the terrace if you want to refresh yourself.
Our children swim in the cozy swimming pool of Casole d'Elsa, to which municipality we belong.
If they want to be picked up, they call us. (less than 5 minutes by car).
You can also swim nearby in nature in rivers, half an hour's drive, very quiet, and a nice trip there.
Golfers can visit the golf course of Colle Val d'Elsa or that of Florence.
If you don't mind the ride, you can even ski in the Apennines in winter, 50 km. above Florence, a simple ski area. Places Sestola or Abettone. Approx. 100 km. If you leave early you will be on your skis by 11am.
Rofena is 75 km. from the beach, but to get there you have to count on almost 2 hours by car due to the mountainous route past Volterra.
The house has been renovated in the original Tuscan style. It has two double bedrooms (and a cot with raised edges for toddlers), a small modern bathroom, spacious living room with open kitchen, and patio doors to the terrace.
There is central heating, and - for coziness - a wood stove. There is no air conditioning, but if you keep the windows and shutters closed in the summer as the Italians do, it stays about 12 degrees cooler inside than outside.
It is fully furnished, sound system, TV with Dutch channels, and wifi, often a bit rickety.
There is a stocked bookcase, games, a well-equipped kitchen with 4 burner stove and oven. No dishwasher.
The house is mainly used by our family and friends, but is in principle also for rent.
We only want to rent out to people with a suspected sense of responsibility with regard to the house and the whole.
That hopefully rules out bare-bellied barbecuers and noisy beer-drinking Flodders.
It is a nice house, in an environment with oha like-minded people.
Rofena is about 1450 km. from Utrecht, between Siena and Florence.
By car the journey takes us about 14 hours, 1 ½ day journey.
Nowadays we also fly with Transavia or Ryanair to Pisa, a small and manageable airport, rent a car, and drive to our house in 1 3/4 hours. The airport of Florence is even closer.
The rental price is €600 per week, or €85 per day. Bed linen etc. €12.50 pp, and cleaning €35,=
