This apartment is one of four apartments on the ground floor in the "Villette Ortensia". The entrance is on the park side, in the living room with kitchen and 2 sofa bed. The bathroom with toilet, lies beyond. At the back is the second double bedroom (see pictures with map). All this is practical.
one has a direct view from the garden on the former nature reserve, now a well-kept park. Through the trees of this park is to see Lake Lugano: there is also the public beach. Under the old trees is a nice place along the beach. For our guests there is a private screened piece: the Beach Club, one can sunbathe there, swim: there is also a bar for a snack, drink or ice cream.
A play area (see photos) is opposite the apartment at 100 m distance, besides a large maze.
In the main, "Palazzo", the Panamabar for breakfast, coffee and lunch. In addition, there is a good restaurant. There is also a hairdresser, and there are shops.
Super Marche there are also: Ortalli (sells were Dutch) within walking distance: go 100m towards the right of the entry / exit of the park, then left along the road to Porlezza: after 250 m Ortalli rschts. The Billa supermarket is right down the road to Menaggio (on z0'n 3 km), Iperal is closer to about 2 km left.
There are bars in Porlezza, along the lake. There are also shops in the old "Centro Storico" of the village. The bookstore / rod shop also sells hiking maps and postcards. In high season, there are Dutch newspapers for sale.
Porlezza is a good uitvals base to the other lakes (Lago Maggiore, Lago di Orta San Giulio, Lago di Como) and cities: Bergamo, Como, Monza, Milan, Turin, Lugano, Bologna, etc. (see the pictures).
The area is famous for its 19th century gardens: Villa Carlotta (Lake Como), Villa Tarantula (Maggiore) and gardens of Bellagio (Lake Como: Aragna) are year to visit! But the islands eg Lake Maggiore. The isle Borromée, and -more to the Brissagio northerly islands have beautiful, very old, (botanical) gardens.
Also recommended are trips to St Moritz, Lucerne, Zurich (trips), but also the smaller roads leading from Porlezza by beautiful landscapes and along many starting points for walks of varying severity.
We feel particularly calm in this apartment: the chorus of birdsong every morning, the mountain air, no Internet: delicious. The weekly e-mail traffic is the computer shop, next to the Palazzo, which you can join for a small fee on the net
The journey: You fly in an hour to Lugano.
From The Hague: 1020 km. Including stops 12-13 hour drive.

Joiner We drove through Germany, but because of frequent traffic jams, road repairs that route was slower but free. Along the way have more stops, with good and healthy food. The clean toilets (cost per time 0.5 Euros, but receiving payment confirmation toilet is being held until checkout with meal costs.
The route through Germany goes through the left Rhine route. Freiburg you can better cross the Rhine and then take the right route. After Basel by St Gothart tunnel and at Lugano Norte always GANDRIA direction and St Moritz.kiezen. You berijkt than Porlezza, on the east side of Lake Lugano. In porlezza, at the roundabout to the left, 1st right, and after 250 meters you can see right into the driveway of the park. At the end of the driveway is the reception.
En route overnight: less than ± 4 hour drive to Porlezza: Gottenheim: Obsthof: quiet place orchard.

In the reception, if you have received the keys Vilette Ortensia is in the middle of the row along the Villette park. This row is good to see when you turn on the roundabout in front of the desk and looks to the right. R first road and drive around the back of the Villettes. The names are on the wall. The entrance is on the park side: here circuits so, then use bedroom door for insertion baggage (like push aside curtains, plants bin aside). If you do noiet through reception: report to reception the next day (the police that wants a copy passport).
The lease is (almost) cover costs.
We have been traveling in Italy for many years. The friendliness and approachability of the people made the difference: a foothold in that country would be a good starting point for our trips. So we bought this apartment, in the beautiful setting of the park, with its shores of Lake Lugano and the friendly village of Porlezza around the corner.
This village with its midevial center has all shops you could need during your holiday.
