Villa Cape Gulah

Villa Cape Gulah is a tropical private villa located on the beach with an amazing view of the ocean, surrounded by a beautiful garden (25 acres) with a large swimming pool enclosed by colorful plants and palm trees. You rent the entire villa. The spacious villa (200 m2) has a perfect balance between inside and outside. The villa is very suitable for a long stay. It is possible to visit half the island with day trips.

Cape Gulah has a sea terrace and baleh (open-air lounge platform), a veranda, a central open-plan living room decorated with Balinese artwork, two closed bedrooms (air-conditioning), each with its own bathroom, a kitchen with all facilities. The villa has a lounge room (air-conditioned) with TV and DVD collection, library specializing in Balinese art and culture. Free internet is included. The high roof is made of alang-alang in a traditional Balinese style.

Our staff can prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner at your request. Service includes cleaning the house and clean linen. They can arrange (motor)bike rental or sightseeing tours including trips to temples, waterfalls, diving spots, dolphins, Batur volcano. You can go scuba diving or snorkeling in front of the villa (coral and exotic fish!), visit the early morning market or admire Tejakula's famous public bath and sea salt production. A traditional dance performance or massage at home can be arranged. There are two supermarkets within walking distance. The staff consists of a management couple, a gardener, night watchman, a cleaner and someone who makes daily offerings at our two home temples.

Villa Cape Gulah is located on the quiet northern pebble beach of Bali, near the fishing district of Tejakula. Ubud is 44 km, Ngurah Rai International Airport is 72 km from the property; transfer can be arranged. We rent out the villa when we stay in the Netherlands. In the south of Bali you will find touristic shopping promenades, discos and luxury restaurants. Villa Cape Gulah, on the other hand, offers you the opportunity to fully enjoy yourself as a modern tourist in the context of traditional Bali!

We, Rian and Frits, live alternately in Utrecht (the Netherlands) and Bali. We have traveled extensively in Indonesia and have fallen in love with the pristine Balinese north coast. We have built our villa in traditional Balinese style with all modern comforts. We were impressed by the friendly people who still lived in a traditional cultural way and by the beautiful tropical landscape. We now offer others the opportunity to stay at this wonderful location.

Additional information

TEJAKULA VILLA CAPE GULAH: 18 TRIPS OR TIPS From our villa you can visit more than half of the island in a day trip. Our house manager can help you with this. 1. Walk along the beach and visit the bathhouse. Turn right past the fishing boats and after 45 minutes you will arrive at the hotel Gaia Oasis. Head back along the main road, turn left at a statue at a three-fork in the center of Tejakula to see the village's famous public baths and climb to the temple behind and above these baths. Nice view of the village! 2. Walk (at low tide!) along the beach to Bondalem. Turn left into Bondalem to see sea salt production (in summer) and lunch at Bondalem Beach Club (1 hour). 3. To the waterfall of Les. Follow the main road east for about 5 km, then turn right (signposted). There is an easy 25 minute walk to the waterfall. 4. Go boating and fishing in front of the villa at sunrise. You can rent a fishing boat; early in the morning when the sea is calm! Dolphins… 5. Visit the local market. Walk down the street, turn left at the first intersection, follow the curve of the road and you will find the early morning market on your left. 6. To Singaraja and visit temples on the way. Main road to the west. Singaraja is approximately a forty five minute drive. Visit the beautiful temples of Kubutambahan and Sangsit. Have lunch in Singaraja on the harbor after visiting the main market. You can also visit the Art Zoo on the way back! 7. To Lovina to see the dolphins. Early in the morning (5am) head to Lovina (west of Singaraja). Boats depart from different hotels (for example hotel Aneka). By dozens! You can also snorkel in Lovina. Or see them off Cape Gulah (if you're lucky...). 8. To the waterfalls of Gitgit and Lake Bratan. Back to Singaraja, and then drive south. After 15 kilometers there are two waterfalls. Both nice. Continue to Bratan Lake with the beautiful Pura Ulun Danau Bratan. Continue for another kilometer on a winding road with an arch on the right: this is the road to Kebun Raya Botanical Gardens. Further afield, see the impressive rice paddies of Jatiluwih. 9. To the Buddhist shrine of Brahma Vihara Arama and to the hot springs. Drive to Singaraja and Lovina towards Seririt and turn left at Banjar. 10. To Lake Batur and Trunyan. Take the road up to Kintamani. At the lake: turn right until you see a large parking lot. Rent a boat and sail to Trunyan cemetery (half an hour) where the dead lie above the ground... Combine this trip with a wonderful visit to the hot spring of Toyadevasya (drive back to the other side of the lake). 11. Climb Batur Volcano and see the sunrise. The climb takes about 2 hours. Best start in the middle of the night to see the sunrise around 6am! Ask our house manager for a driver. 12. Tour to Tirtaganga rice fields + Lempuyang and Amlapura water palace. Long day trip to the east. See the beautiful rice fields near Tirtaganga and the aquatic complex. Take a detour halfway to Lempuyang Temple with unforgettable views of Gunung Agung Volcano. See also the water palace just before Amlapura. 13. To Pura Besakih. Bali's main 'mother temple'. Can also be visited from Ubud, along with Pura Kehen (between Ubud and Pura Besakih). 14. To Kerta Gosa in Semarapura (formerly known as Klungkung). Beautiful ceiling paintings of the Kerta Gosa legal complex at the traffic junction of the last Puputan in 1908 (collective suicide). Nice covered fabric market (100 meters from the crossroads, behind an arch). Also interesting: Gunarsa museum (towards Gyanjar). 15. Snorkeling and diving. Coral right in front of our house! Only go into the sea when there are no waves. Snorkeling equipment is provided. Diving school in hotel Teluk Karang (Penuktukan) or hotel Alamanda (Sembirenteng). Great wreck diving in Tulamben (northeast) or Menjangan Island (northwest). 16. A day trip to Ubud, the cultural center of Bali (start early for this nearly 2-hour drive). See the Monkey Forest Road, the central shopping street. Go to the Neka Museum, Museum Lukisan or Agung Rai Museum. Museum Antonio Blanco is also spectacular. Delicious lunch in Casa Luna, the Bridge of Indus with a fantastic view of Mount Agung. Or walk through the rice fields north of Ubud. Visit Goja Gajah near Ubud! 17. Massage at home. Take a 1 or 1.5 hour traditional Balinese massage. Important: Thoroughly remove the massage oil by showering before jumping into the pool! 18. A traditional dance performance at Cape Gulah during dinner. Ask our house manager!
