Our Kuria (mansion) was built around 1795 and was inhabited by the noble family Sümeghy Lóvasz Szentmargita and the noble family Farkas Boldogfai, large landowners who owned almost all the land in and around Söjtör.

The name of the Kuria has been known since time immemorial as Farkas Kastély (Farkas Castle).
We purchased the Kuria in 2022 in a very poor state of maintenance.
After a total renovation, the house is now again a feast for the eyes and equipped with all modern conveniences. (Classification by the Hungarian Tourist Board: 3/4 stars).

Because the Kuria is too large for us, in terms of living space, to live in alone, we have come up with the plan to house some beautifully furnished holiday apartments to rent out and also meet nice people.
We offer the ultimate stay for those seeking peace and quiet and people who love nature and simplicity. In any case, you are very welcome.

Our Kuria is located in a quiet small village surrounded by green hills and fields about 19 km from Zalaegerszeg (capital of Zala province).
Time has a different dimension here and sometimes seems to stand still.
In the village you can get most basic needs, there is a restaurant, simple supermarket, tobacconist, butcher and a village doctor (skilled and knowledgeable doctor who also speaks German).
A modern Spar supermarket can be found in the neighboring village of Bak (6 km).
Large supermarkets such as Tesco, Lidl and Aldi can be found in nearby Zalaegerszeg.
In our experience, Lidl is by far the cheapest supermarket in Hungary for daily groceries.
Söjtör is a great base for day, walking and cycling trips.

For a day of water fun, Aquacity waterslide and adventure park in nearby Zalaegerszeg is a great choice to spend a day.
The nearby Thermal Bath should also not be forgotten for those seeking benefits for mind and body.

The beautiful beaches of Lake Balaton near Készthely are half an hour away by car.
The popular thermal bath of Héviz is located near Készthely (in our opinion not really suitable for children because of the depth.)

The beautiful castle of Count Festetics in Készthely is also definitely worth planning as a day out.

Of course, Zala Megye (Zala province) has much more to offer than mentioned above and a well-filled and unforgettable holiday is certainly guaranteed.

We are Luc and Miranda and live at Farkas Castle. We have traveled all over the world and lived in Asia for many years. We finally said goodbye to the Netherlands when we were offered the opportunity to settle here and feel more than at home in beautiful and, above all, peaceful Hungary. Cancellation policy

Tip: take out cancellation insurance with your insurer.

If the tenant wishes to cancel the booking for any reason, the tenant must always confirm this to the landlord by e-mail (even if this has already been communicated to the landlord by telephone, for example). The landlord will charge the following amounts, depending on the date of written cancellation by the tenant:

cancellation more than 2 months before the start of the rental period: 10% of the rental price
cancellation between the 60th and the 30th day before the start of the rental period: 50% of the rental price
cancellation between the 30th and the 15th day before the start of the rental period: 75% of the rental price
cancellation less than 15 days before the start of the rental period: 100% of the rental price

If the tenant only announces on the start date or during the rental period that he or she will no longer use the rented property, he will still owe the full rental price.
