Enjoy the region:
Villa Kerasi is located in the Messinia region, at the extreme southwestern tip of the Peloponnese. The “land of the Pelops” and especially Messini, really has it all. The climate is mild, a microclimate with many hours of sunshine. The rain falls in winter. The rain is stored in underground rivers and springs, making it very fertile. It is therefore very green with (olive) trees, cypresses and plants that bloom profusely. There are several extensive beaches and beautiful hiking opportunities, and more and more cyclists. With the mountainous hinterland, this creates a special atmosphere that is very similar to Italian Tuscany. The special and many villages, with the very friendly residents, provide a soothing relaxed atmosphere where you quickly feel at home. Most are spreeing English.
Flights direct to Kalamata:
Amsterdam - Kalamata via Transavia
Düsseldorf - Kalamata via Airberlin, Condor, Aegean and others.
Brussels-Kalamata: via Aegean.
An alternative is to fly to Athens. From Athens it is about 300 km by highway to Kalamata.
Combination of car/ferry:
From Ancona (Italy) to Patra. You can book the ferry via:
Superfast, Anek or Minoan or Greekferries.
From the port city of Patras in the Peloponnese, it takes about 3.5 hours to drive to the villa in Evangelismos

Since the completion of the house in 2011, we enjoy the stay every time. At times when we or our children are not staying there, we would like to share the house with others. Enjoy the beaches, the villages, the terraces, the restaurants and the friendly people. From the house with the wonderful view and the swimming pool with the salt water installation. Also the trips to the many sights and for enthusiasts to the golf courses. To enjoy. Every day again.

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

Kerasi Villa is located in the area of Messinia, in the southwestern tip of the Peloponnese and is accessible by car in 60 minutes from Kalamata airport. From April to October many airlines fly direct to Kalamata. Throughout the year you can fly to Athens. You drive from Athens via a new highway in about 3.5 hours to our villa. Car hire is essential and we recommend booking in advance via the internet. Another possibility is to drive with your own car. In that case you'll sail from Italy (Ancona) to Patras. The journey from Patras to our villa is 3 hours. The ferry from Ancona to Patras takes 21 hours.
The immediate surroundings of Villa Kerasi.
You find beautiful view of the sea and the green hills with vineyards and olive (the "Greek Tuscany'). Evangelismos has a small shop and a cozy restaurant with a terrace under the plane trees. Finikounda: a louvely fishing village with many restaurants and shops.. (or by Bike) The sandy beaches are real (no pebbles!), Where the soil slowly and gradually expires. So very suitable for children. You can also surfe, sail, a boat can be rented and surf lessons can be followed.
What is there to see within an hour drive from our villa?
TSAPI beach is an idyllic bay with sandy beach and 2 nice restaurants. It is a half hour drive on the road to Koroni. The unique Koroni is designated by UNESCO as the example of the Greek Mediterranean lifestyle. Do not forget to visit the small, beautiful monastery. Koroni has remains of a Venetian fort, but the village Methoni, 20 minutes drive from our villa has a magnificent Venetian fortress from the same time. Really worth it! A little further, about 30 minutes from our villa, you will find the harbor Pylos with its charming square and many shops. In the bay of Pylos in 1827 a battle took place which eventually led to the independence of Greece. When you rent a boat, you can sail across the bay and see the various commemorative monuments. Some claim that you have the wrecks of the battle is still on the ground can see, we have so far not found! Also Pylos again has numerous castles, especially the castle from the Turkish times, you see immediately when you are driving from our villa to Pylos, is impressive.

From Pylos to Kalamata find after about 15 minutes drive from the beautiful lakes and waterfalls Polimnio. The signs are well marked and lead you to a parking lot. Then continue on foot for the adventure. Diving and swimming in the lakes is a must for the real daredevils.
Less than an hour's drive from our villa, past Pylos, find beautiful beaches Gialova, Voidokilia and Romanos. A truly paradise with a few cabanas. Nearby, in 2010 the large golf resort Costa Navarino ports are opened (the first golf resort in Greece).
For those interested in ancient Greece, you have to be the remains of the Palace of Nestor look (1200 BC) the museum in Hora, and the ancient Mycenae.

What to see during a day trip from our villa
If you want to pull out one day, the ancient Olympia is an absolute must. It lies approximately 2 hours drive from our villa. Olympia is known worldwide as the birthplace of the Olympics (776 BC-385AC). When you walk through the original entrance to the Olympic arena is you can easily imagine how the athletes at that time must have felt! The shape of the arena is still quite intact, including (in marble) the start and finish line. Here you will find the statue of the "Goddess of Victory", named Nike. When her statue is the "Olympic Flame" which ignited after a trip to the capital of the current Olympics. You also may certainly not miss the Temple of Zeus.
Another recommendation is to use the road through the vertiginous mountains Taygetus to drive to the mysterious ruined Byzantine city of Mistras. This is near Sparta. In 1248 the Crusaders built a fortress that play an important role in many wars has played. After the last war in the 18th century remained Mistras a ruined city, consisting of a fortress and an upper and lower town. If you want to see everything you can easily spend a few hours.
From Athens Airport to Kalamata Airport is 270km. (The highway is ready) From Kalamata Airport to Villa Kerasi is 45 kilometers.
Enjoy the region.
Kerasi Villa is located in Messinia, at the extreme southwestern tip of the Peloponnese. The "land of Pelops" and especially Messinia, really handles everything. The climate is mediterrinian. You find a lot of sandy beaches, nice villages. The landscape creates a special atmosphere that reminds to the Italian Tuscany. The special and many villages, with very friendly people create a relaxed atmosphere, where you feel at home. The Greek language is not easy, but fortunately many people speak English. Even in ancient times people knew to appreciate this surrounding which is why there are many archaeological sites, temples, palaces etc. which can be visited. Also a short distance from our house.

- National Geographic Travel has advised Messinia in the top 20 trips.
Peloponnese with its 250 km in length and width two and a half times the size of Crete, has around 1.1 million inhabitants. Much of Pylia / Messinia is a nature reserve called Natura 2000. This area runs from Gialova to Vasilitsi. http://natura2000.eea.europa.eu/

Of course the places Finikounda and Methoni. There you find the beaches, where you can go for surfing, sailing, diving or rent a boat. Surfing or diving lessons are also available. TSAPI beach is an idyllic bay with sandy beach and two nice restaurants. It is half an hour away on the road to Koroni. Koroni has been designated by UNESCO as the example of the Greek Mediterranean lifestyle. Do not forget to visit the small, beautiful monastery. The places Koroni and Methoni are called the "eyes" of Venice. They were once occupied by the Venetians and therefore have forts from the Venetian era. In particular, the fortress in Methoni is really worth! At about 25 minutes from our villa, you will find the port of Pylos with its charming square and many shops. In the bay of Pylos a naval battle took place in 1827 which eventually led to the independence of Greece. When you rent a boat, you can sail across the bay and see the various memorials.
