In 2002 a dream of ours come true by buying a house in Paros.in 1982 I met my husband in Paros. It was a real holiday romance, but it did not. Dimitri came to Holland, and now we have 2 sons, and spend every year our holiday in Paros by. First with the laws and now in our own residence. The sea, the silence, the people have stolen my heart. Our cottage is located close to the hustle and bustle, but still very quiet. An ideal vacation spot!

A beautiful geluid.Verder you always see groups of Greeks, chattering with each other, on a terrace. They really communicate!
In 1982 I met my current husband on the Greek island of Paros. He came there every summer with his parents from Athens. His father was born and raised on Paros. The place where our apartment is hot Parikia. Here the boats from the mainland and surrounding islands. It is a picturesque plek.Parikia is a large bay and evening with the lights on is just a postcard. But this is also true for daytime. The town is very old and you can still find remnants from the Byzantine period. The Kastro is the center and is a labyrinth of streets. The intention behind this was that once the pirates who invaded would get lost in the streets. A maze so. She is quite successful, because we too are sometimes lost. Ask for the sea and it is always justified. There are many places to visit in Parikia. The shopping streets are an experience in itself. There is also the main square near the harbor with the church a hundred doors. A beautiful church with a long history, because actually, the 99 doors .... and actually very Parikia Paros is the center of many artists. There are also regular in Parikia exhibition programs bezoeken.Ook there is a museum with many Cycladic finds from the oudheid.Eten and drink one can fully Parikia on the attractive promenade or in the interior streets. In the winding streets within many vinden.Er Garden restaurants are so many good restaurants and cozy bars that it's hard to choose.  Paros has many possibilities for day trips. Travel can be by public transport, car or scooter. The island has some interesting villages such as the fishing village Naussa, 30 minutes from Parikia. It is a picturesque town with many terraces, taverns and art shops. The kolymbrithes, a very unusual rock formation on the sea, is nearby. They are flat, reddish rocks. Lovely to take a dip at the beautiful strand.Santa Maria is a little further than Naussa. Also a nice place to swim in a beautiful setting. It is a favorite beach for windsurfers.Lefkes is a mountain village in the middle of Paros. Also worth a visit. From here it is possible to walk through the mountains on the Byzantine path. A path that dates from the oudheid.Verder there are still many villages that are worth a visit, all authentic Greek plaatsen.Vlakbij Parikia is the butterfly valley. This is open from June / m september.Aliki is a fishing village on the other side of Parikia, about 30 minutes by scooter. It's as if time has stood still. A nice quiet place to relax after with again beautiful vergezichten.Glyfada is a beach that one should visit. The water is crystal clear and there are often few people. Especially in the low season. Here is also a wonderful tavern [in low season only open on weekends], where many Greek families come to eat because of the good kitchen! Anti-Paros is an island next to Paros. It is about 30 minutes away with the small boat from the port in Parikia or one can take the ferry from Pounta. Crossing 5 minutes. Here are caves to explore the island and has many more beautiful places with a cozy village where aankomt.Naxos is a large island next to Paros. Also great for a day trip. It is approximately 1 hour cruise with boot.Myconos and Santorini, 2 known islands, lying about 2 hours by boat from Paros.
Greeks eat 2 times a day warm at around 14.00 pm and evenings at 22.00 all are back terraces of tavernas filled with Greek families.Paros has many good restaurants. In the guest in our apartment are tips for good food. One can choose from many types of restaurants, of course, Greek tavernas, but also Italian, French, and even Chinees.Dichtbij the apartment you can get fresh bread for breakfast. The Greek bread is so delicious that you can not stop eating. A delicious crispy crust with freshly baked. Greeks love of very sweet. You can see in bakeries that are filled with pastries, cakes and chocolate. Drooling you stand to order. Baklava is a must eat on a terrace. A delicious sugar cake, which the Greeks love. There is a wide choice of wines. The house wine is Paroswijn, soft and pure. The Greeks ordered a full day or half a kilo in the wine taverns. It is often very cheap at 4 euros for a pint of wine, and that makes one quickly for 30 euro dinner with all the trimmings.
