What we were looking for ourselves at the time was a 'Dacha'. A cottage in the countryside, where we can spend our long weekends and holidays together with our children and grandchildren.
What we found was a second home. A beautiful, spacious detached holiday home, in a beautiful holiday park and only a 3 1/2 hour drive from our current home.
Due to its favorable location on top of a hill, on the edge of a forest with a piece of land all around, the house takes maximum advantage of the park accommodation and still has optimum privacy.
The house is close to everything we like and beautiful. The beautiful landscape of the German Knull Mountains, ruins of old castles and nice old picturesque towns with beautiful half-timbered houses and of course a super nice golf course is barely a 10-minute drive away.
We can all fit in there, because there are 4 bedrooms with room for 8 people (3x2 pers. and 2x1 pers. + a cot on request). One of the 2 person bedrooms is on the ground floor, besides being practical, it is at least pleasant for people with reduced mobility.
