Our detached, four-person holiday home with its living room, separate kitchen, two bedrooms, a hallway and a bathroom not large (55 m2) but cozy and well equipped. The cottage is beautifully situated at 500 meters altitude, in a green park within walking distance of the village in the volcanic Eifel Lissendorf. Around our house is a spacious garden (420 m2) with a sunny and sheltered terrace. Plenty of privacy, but not isolated. The baker and supermarket are within walking distance (1.7 km) away. It is an ideal place for those seeking peace, love sporting challenges (mountain biking, hiking, golf), is looking for a unique winter experience or just want to charge for the hectic everyday life.
The park lies at an originating wooded Eifel Slope where in the 80 area was designed for private (holiday) homes with spacious, tree-filled gardens. Our house is accessed from the car park via an illuminated path (40 meters). The position on the hill, the house has a playful character on two levels. The house is comfortable and modern and has central heating. We have no complex machine, but fine filter; no sauna, but a lovely garden with terraces in the sun. The German wood stove creates the authentic atmosphere and the (free) WiFi and satellite TV (Dutch channels), the contact is never far away with the outside world. An excellent place for those who need nothing more. With the smell of burning wood stove, a glass of wine or a Hefeweizen, undoubtedly here to relax. Who exactly should lose energy, can feast on the challenging mountain bike routes and alternate paths across meadows, forests and villages. Nature begins in our front yard. In the winter there (limited) cross-country skiing opportunities at about 25 km from Lissendorf.
Unlike the Belgian Ardennes is the Eifel relatively unknown in Dutch, which is really weird because the area is just as close and as beautiful. Unique too, with its ancient volcanoes and volcanic lakes round. Furthermore the Eifel is less overrun by tourists, there are affordable restaurants, fresh-looking villages with houses in pastel shades and bakers with a huge variety of tasty bread. In addition to the varied nature of mixed forests, small fields there are also nice trips. From Lissendorf you can (half) day trips to castles (Manderscheid), small museums, zoos, breweries (Bittburg) and beautiful medieval towns like Bad Munstereifel and Kronenburg. The Eifel-Express are the picturesque towns of Cologne and Trier in 1½ hour away from the station in Lissendorf. And Eifel Residents? Those are just welcoming, helpful and do not difficult.
We, Tinus (a Drent) and Monique (a Gelderlander) live more than 30 years in Breda. During our holidays go the backpacks on, we roam around the world or we walk in the mountains. Only at Christmas we are looking for a cottage with a wood burning stove, on a mountain and it is time for reflection, rest and attention to each other, our children and friends. Since 2015 we own such a place, in the Eifel! Never expected, but here we are forgetting their homes (Monique) and we remain "knackig (Tinus).
