Lilas d'été Lac StCroix GorgesVerdon

And a luxurious paradise: each bedroom has its own bathroom and in the outbuildings you will also find a sauna and extra shower and toilet in the spacious pool house. In the outdoor kitchen an American fridge with ice maker.
The spacious, comfortable villa is surrounded by extensive grounds full of lavender and wild thyme, and adjacent to a piece of private forest with mostly evergreen oaks. You almost get the idea that you are alone in the world. Yet the neighbors are not very far away and the villa is only a 10-minute walk from the village. With about 15 minutes drive you are at Lac de St. Croix; this lake is ideal for quiet but also spectacular boat trips (pedal boats, kayaks, etc.). The Gorges du Verdon is also around the corner: it is one of the most beautiful natural areas in Europe; you can hike, climb or make beautiful car and bicycle tours to your heart's content. In the village Régusse of course the necessary shops and recently even a supermarket; Wednesday and Sunday market. Of course there are several restaurants in the area
The villa is surrounded by 3 large, covered as well as 4 uncovered terraces (2 with pergola, naturally overgrown with vines and wisteria). This spacious heatable swimming pool (11 x 4.5 m2) has a shallow walk-in area of 1.50 m (handy for the children to play, but reading under water is also wonderful !!) The bath is disinfected with a salt system, good for the skin and no more chlorine smell We have adapted the color of the pool to the natural environment, so no hard blue, but turquoise, because we have given the bath walls a sand color. The swimming pool is also equipped with a special cleaning system, which generally keeps the water clear. In addition to wild thyme and lavender, the garden also has oak, olive and fruit trees. There is ample outdoor furniture, and there are also hammocks. There is also a fully equipped outdoor kitchen including a bar with a large mobile Weber barbeque. With the two dining tables you can enjoy a meal next to the pool and spend long, balmy evenings with the romantic garden lighting on and a chilled wine within reach! In the winter months you can look up the heat in the two-person sauna that is available.

The house has a large and attractive living room (55 m2) with a fireplace, 3 armchairs, a three-seater sofa and a dining table for 8 people. You also have access to a TV with satellite reception, an audio set with USB and I-pod connection, a CD / DVD player and a wireless Internet connection. On request and for an additional fee you can get extra cooling in the living room by an air conditioning, but because of the covered terraces around this is actually rarely necessary.
The open kitchen has a cooking island and is fully equipped. The washing machine can be found in the spacious utility room. The master bedroom has a large, electrically adjustable bed that can serve as a double bed as well as for two single beds. The second bedroom has 2 good box-spring beds. The third bedroom can be reached both from the outside and from the inside and can serve as a guest house with its own kitchenette and bathroom with shower / toilet. From here you look out over a large 'truffiere' (evergreen oaks under which truffles grow). You can relax on hot days under the adjacent au-vent with a large table. All sleeping areas are equipped with a TV. The study room with an extensive Dutch and French library is located on the mezzanine. Available for children: a camp bed, a high chair, a baby bath, a small inflatable pool, a swing, pool toys, family games, playing cards and some DVDs.

We spent years tugging through France and finally found our dream place in Provence in 1996: a house on a beautiful site full of wild thyme and (truffle) oaks near Régusse, an old Templar village in the heart of the regional park of the Verdon. With 100 meters of truffiere in front of the house and the forest in the back, our privacy is guaranteed. Over the years, the house with all its outbuildings has grown considerably, so that we can let our guests enjoy this paradise in peace!

Additional information

Provence and Cote d'Azur. Two birds with one stone: from Régusse you can enjoy both the atmosphere of the coast and the Provençal hinterland
The villa is located in the Var, the only real Provence according to the residents here: formerly a province of the Roman Empire. This part of France is still littered with gems of villages, where time seems to stand still: with narrow winding streets and village squares shaded by plane trees often with tinkling fountains.
Régusse, founded in the 12th century by the Templars, has a real rampart. The nearby village of Aups, has more or less become the regional center, where everyone will find each other at Yves ( Bar du Cours) on the terrace on market days (Wednesday and Saturday). Are you also in love with freshly pressed olive oil, then you will find in Aups a mill that presses and sells the beautiful oil from many olive trees in the area. Again this year they won a gold medal for their oil, not amazingly though My favorite olive oil, however, from Callas, a village you through a wonderful journey through Ampus and Chateaudouble can achieve. The ancient town Villecroze (the name comes from the time of the Romans) is worth a visit: You can still find cave dwellings and the old town is one of the most picturesque spots of France, no wonder that many artists have settled here over the years. Sunset is the best from Tourtour, yet another gem of a village with a nice village square and wonderful restaurants.
Potters are mainly located in Salernes (Sunday market), with its river - the Bresque - where you find delicious cold water for swimming. A little further lies the origin of this river in Sillans la Cascade, a walk to the waterfall is worthwile. In wintertime, swimming is possible in the indoor pool of Sillans la Cascade ( filled with spring water of about 30 degrees)
Other small villages that you - if you have time, do not miss his Cotignac and Thoronet (beautiful abbey with exceptional acoustics)
After about 15 minutes drive from Régusse to the north (in the summer fragrant lavender fields) you come to the beautiful, clean recreational lake the Lac de St. Croix, where you can sunbathe, swim, surf, paddle boats and canoeing. Even in high season you can still find private beaches.
On the north side of the lake is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in France, the magnificent Grand Canyon de Verdon river gorge known as the Gorge du Verdon. You can use a little more from the gap enter. What You'll definitely do a tour of the gorge make you wait a superb view points with canoes in depth. Sports enthusiasts can also divide the walk or climb. Decision to visit the lovely old village of Moustiers St Marie, on the other side of the lake with a delicious dinner.
Much closer to home, about 10 minutes, starting at the village of Quinson a leisurely stroll of about 3 hours along the Lower Gorge du Verdon. This walk is available from the Tourist Office to Regusse, in various places you can swim here in the Gorge. Of course you can also make trips to the sea to St Maxime, St Tropez. Cannes, Nice (where you definitely Vieux Nice and the Marche des Fleurs must visit) and Monaco, places thanks to the toll road, the A 8 at convenient distance. But you probably is, after a nice walk and a dip in the pool, just preferably on your own terrace, enjoying nature, the forest, the silence and the view. And you are right!

Régusse is a calm and quiet village in the Haut Var. It is 12 km from the Gorges du Verdon and the Lac St Croix, amidst a gently sloping valley with vineyards, olive groves and vast evergreen oak forests. Far from noise, traffic and industry.
Régusse still bears traces of the time of the Templars. In the 12th century they built a castle with a fortification wall, which we still admire the ruins.
Other historic sites:
* The mills of Régusse that far into the periphery are known. They were built in the 15th and 16th centuries and have been recently restored: one of the two still grinds flour. In the summer, changing data on a party organized around the mills.
* The old city walls
* The old monastery
* The Notre Dame de la Miséricorde church with its bell tower of glazed tiles in 1676.
* The narrow streets with original arches and gates and nice courtyards.

Throughout the year there are a number of activities organized in Régusse, such as cultural exhibitions, classical concerts, flea markets and festivals.
Guided walks are regularly organized, more info at the Tourist Office.
There is in the summer every Wednesday and Sunday market in Régusse and recently there is a supermarket very close: You drive from the house after the driveway left up to the T-junction, right there: after a few 100 meters from the Atac (a branch of Auchan).

Of course there are a few restaurants and a bar in the village and a public swimming pool, sports club, tennis courts and a playground.
In summer, on Wednesdays and Sundays a small market. In winter only on Sunday.

Christmas and New Year: a time of celebration and extended tables, of good food and drink, of joy and pleasure, of crackling log fires and candles, invigorating walks in the beautiful scenery, and then slumped on the chaise lounge on the sofa the fire nice afterglow of the day. Nice strolling in cities such as Nice, Cannes, Aix-en Provence, where from 6 January the 'solde' ( sale) begins\
Our villa in Régusse can offer you all this, a perfect base for romantic places and villages.
On Thursday morning there is a truffle market in the neighboring village of Aups, on other days enjoy Christmas shopping at the various markets, or enjoy eating in small and large (star) restaurants. We can make reservations for you, for Christams or New years eve, which are still celebrated in style.
Also, we know some good caterers in the area, a dinner for your home can provide
It's also a wonderful house in the fall or winter time: in the evenings with a good book nestled in front of the fireplace. during the day, hiking in the hills under the usually very clear blue sky. Spring time with all fruit trees in bloom, with wild iris and crocus etc. and autumn with its beautiful colors.
Skiing, in the not too distant Alpes de Haute Provence, is also among the possibilities. And what do you think of a Provençal Christmas? Lunch often outside on the terraceDaytime, then a brisk walk, then afterglow on the chaise longue for a crackling fire. Wine and dine by candlelight at home or in one of the restaurants in the area. We can reserve for you, for Christmas or for St Sylvestre ( New Years Eve), which is still celebrated in style. Or spend a day strolling in Nice, Cannes and Aix en Provence, eat bouillabaisse at the old port of Marseille? Culturally too, there is a variety, such as concerts, museums, etc. Another reason for visiting the Var in the winter: to visit the truffle market, held every Thursday morning from mid November to mid March in the neighboring village of Aups. In the villa are beautiful truffle recipes! On the last Sunday in January the "Journee de la Truffe Noire" in Aups will be organized. Besides a variety of activities, all restaurants in the village offer a special truffle menu. About springtime of course we do not have much to tell: a great feast of flowers and fragrances !
Our villa in Régusse for all this is a perfect base
Every January we go on a diet with a group of friends, why don't you join us ?: we prepare and eat together lots of fresh vegetables and delicious dishes, even truffles fit in our menu !! And of course we makea a brisk walk every day in the hills if you like.
