Les Petites Pierres, (small stones), is a charming renovated 18th century cottage that is furnished to a high standard. It has a 'typical French' feeling with original oak beams and an electric
stove with effect wood stove. The well-equipped kitchen has a gas stove, fridge-freezer, microwave and washing machine, kettle, toaster, lots of pots and cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery.
The shower room + toilet is located downstairs, with a shaver and a heated towel rail.
The comfortable living-dining room has a solid oak fireplace and an electric heater with wood-burning effect for stays in the early / late season.
There is a TV (Freesat), video / DVD player, CD player and a selection of DVDs, books and games. An information pack contains many suggestions for day trips and detailed maps of the environment.
ABOVE: the 2 bedrooms have original oak beams and views of the woods at the front.
There is a double bed (190x140) and a bedroom with two single beds, and the latter is suitable for an extra young child with an extra bed.
A private terrace with table and chairs for sitting / dining is at the front of the Gite with another private dining with BBQ garden across the street from the chemin.
The large communal pool (9m x 4.6 mx 4.6 m and 1.2 m deep) is located in a wonderfully sheltered sun trap and is surrounded by a spacious sun terrace and is well closed. Sun beds, chairs and umbrellas are available to relax and sunbathe after a refreshing dive, as well as a children's pool for young children.
The quiet area is surrounded by wooded views. There are many beautiful walks here, and the really quiet lanes are excellent for cycling, we have 3 adult bikes available, you can also bring your own bikes or rent locally, in our large well equipped playing field you can enjoy - Football , table tennis and badminton. A Boules course is adjacent to the pool area, there are a selection of outdoor games and there is a croquet lawn next to the Potager garden. There is an abundance of local wildlife including, buzzards, woodpeckers, red squirrels, lizards and masses of butterflies and Ladybirds attracted by our Wildflower area (with its
maze paths). Our French chickens are also fun to look at and produce beautiful yellow-yellowed eggs - children like to help with feeding. Organic vegetables are available (for a small one
compensation) of our attractive 3-tiered Potager. lots of safe space for guests to be active and relax.There is free on site WiFi for all Gites, and each Gite has a good selection of
Books and Games. All Kitchens are fully equipped and we have cots, mattresses for children's beds, children's plates and cutlery, high chairs, a baby bath, a rug for families with young children. There is an extensive range of information in each Gite of tourist
attractions, local restaurants, shops and walks. We have created two comprehensive map guides with details of more than 40 things to do / see in a 25-minute radius around Les Glycines and more than 100 things to do for days from a little further away. detailed
hiking maps and Michelin guides are also available.
a Welcome Pack is included in every Gite on arrival - it includes a number of milk, cheese, bread, wine, wine, Barbecue Coals and some of our own delicious eggs. We supply bed linen, but ask guests to bring their own large bath towels. In the months of July and August
there is a daily delivery of delicious artisan freshly baked Baguettes, Croissants, Pain au Chocolat and the Gites are preceded by a small chemin (land strip) that is rarely used except the daily La Poste.
There are a number of local restaurants that offer a range of styles of cuisine and prices for all. We are happy to advise and book you, but also the local supermarkets and Produce Markets -
of which there are many! This area is known for its Goats Cheese, Apple Juice, Mussels, Chalons Poultry, Parthenais Beef, Eels and of course Charentais Melons.
