Wonderfully comfortable house in the middle of a forest, with a south-facing terrace. The house is spacious (180 m2) and fully equipped. Free in nature, yet close to towns such as Cahors, Gourdon and fifteen minutes from the Dordogne.
Our house will be further renovated in October with 2 new bathrooms, a kitchen and new red shutters. Would you like a preview of the new kitchen? Then look at the last photo. Enjoy nature!
The house is located in the Le Quercy nature reserve. On the terrace you sit in a small green oasis with a view of the garden and oak trees and the occasional deer that jumps by or a butterfly that comes fluttering from the forest.
A lot to do!
The sights of the Dordogne are all close by, but you avoid the tourist crowds in the Lot, because we are just outside the Dordogne in a part of France that is still completely authentic. In the Lot you will find a nice mix of culture and nature. Beautiful villages, rolling hills and nice markets. There is a swimming pool 5 kilometers away. Close by there are also lakes and a beach for swimming or fishing in the Lot.
Design
The house has a nice warm atmosphere and is fully equipped: dishwasher, washing machine, well-equipped kitchen, spacious L-shaped lounge (80 m2) with French doors to the terrace, a dining area and a writing table, 2 bedrooms with good beds and each a private bathroom en-suite. In the living room there is a sofa bed for 2 persons. Free WIFI. A well-draining fireplace in the cooler period.
Practical
The house is located in the heart of the Le Quercy nature reserve. The area is suitable for people who enjoy walking and cycling in a rich and varied nature, but you can also swim or fish and canoe in the river Lot, take a wine tour of the many wine chateaux or visit the museum of the sculptor Zadkine which is a fifteen minute drive away.
Good markets nearby and delicious regional cuisine. Our house is also a good base for sights such as Rocamadour, Padirac, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Cahors, Figeac, Souillac and Domme.
Surroundings
The Lot is a beautiful region in the south of France, where rolling hills and authentic villages provide a pleasant holiday atmosphere. No endless grain fields, but small-scale agriculture and forests determine the landscape.
There are many regional markets nearby and there are plenty of festivities and festivals in the summer.
Cahors has many music events. The film festival in Gindou is amazing! Towns such as Cahors and Figeac are fun to visit, as are the caves at Cougnac and Peche Merle. Also worth a visit is Rocamadour, the pilgrimage site of the black Madonna that is built on a rock. The fissure in the earth at Padirac is fascinating and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, one of the most beautiful villages in France, is also nice for a trip.
