Bungalow

Our holiday home is on one floor and has a centrally located very spacious living room with open kitchen. On either side of the living room is a corridor with two spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate toilet. Very suitable for eg two families, but also for one couple.

L' Etoile Filante is fully furnished, fully equipped and includes: dishwasher, fridge/freezer combination (2x), washing machine, dryer, induction hob and electric oven, microwave, 2 cots and 2 high chairs, TV with both French and all Dutch channels, DVD/Video recorder, music system, etc. Glassware and crockery are widely available.

Outside you will find a covered terrace with tables and chairs and in the fully fenced garden a large dining table with chairs, sunbeds, parasols, barbecue, and a secured swimming pool of 9.5m x 4.5m and from 0.80 to 2.00 m deep.

L' Etoile Filante is completely free on 4000m2 of private land and has a beautiful view over the vineyards of the Vin de Domme. There are plenty of sun and/or shaded areas on the terraces and in the garden around the house. Peace, space and privacy are absolutely guaranteed. A short distance away are several charming villages with shops, terraces, restaurants, supermarket and public facilities. Buying a fresh baguette in the morning is so easy.

We are André and Eric. From 2005 to 2016 we were the owners and operators of Chambres d'hôtes Les Trois Collines at Saint Cybranet in the Dordogne. Meanwhile, we have lost our heart to this beautiful region. During the rental season we also live in the region, and we are always willing to provide information or help if desired.

Location & area recommendations

Additional information

L' Etoile Filante is located in the Périgord Noir region, part of the Dordogne department, between the towns of Domme, Castelnaud and Daglan. Noir has to do with the countless forests that used to cover this area. Even today, the Périgord Noir is still characterized by untouched, hilly nature reserves with beautiful views. We give a short summary of a number of tourist/sports activities that you can visit/do at a very short distance from our holiday home and which we think are really worthwhile. There is of course much more to visit and do in our region, but you can find all this in the guides that are in the house. We also have brochures for almost all activities mentioned below. Castles: -Castle of Castelnaud. A beautifully renovated and furnished battle castle on top of a rock with stunning views over the Dordogne River. Very nice especially for children. -Castle of Fenelon Beautiful castle and fully furnished and upholstered (14th to 19th century) with one star from the Michelin guide. Completely visitable without a guide. -Castle of Les Milandes. The beautiful residential castle where Joséphine Baker lived with all her orphans. Her eventful life is made visible through photos, her dresses, furniture, etc. In the garden there is a bird of prey show several times a day. There is also an explanation in Dutch. -Forte de Reignac. Special castle where only the facade can be seen on the outside. The real castle is built into the rocks. This castle was only opened to the public two years ago. Caves: -Caves of Maxange. Very special caves, only recently opened to the public with a ceiling that consists of all crystals. -Lascaux IV. The most famous cave in France with its cave drawings of all kinds of prehistoric animals. This cave is an exact copy of the original, which unfortunately is no longer accessible to the public due to damage to the rock paintings. Gardens: -The gardens of Manoir d'Eyrignac. Beautifully landscaped gardens with many boxwood shrubs in tight symmetrical shapes. Has a star from the Michelin guide. -The Gardens of Marqueyssac. These gardens, with 6km of footpaths, are set on a hilltop plateau. This gives you a magnificent view of the area with its countless castles and villages. In July and August, the gardens are lit with 2,000 candles every Thursday evening until midnight and music groups play in various places in the garden. Cities and towns: -Sarlat. This capital of the Périgord Noir has a beautifully preserved medieval center with many houses with a Renaissance facade. Many nice streets with restaurants and shops and squares with terraces. -La Roque Gageac This picturesque village is perched against a rock wall with the Dordogne river at the foot. Behind the houses a footpath leads up where you imagine yourself in the tropics because of the special vegetation. - Stupid. Beautiful bastide on a rock above the Dordogne with a breathtaking belvedere. Many small shops, restaurants, terraces, etc. Touristy, but well worth a visit. On the market square is the entrance to a cave where the inhabitants used to shelter from enemy attacks. Aviation: - In the immediate vicinity balloon trips can be made and flights with a helicopter or a single-engine plane. Water: -Canoeing is excellent on the Dordogne or the Vézère. There are plenty of departure points where you can rent a canoe for a long or short trip. -Gabares These are boats with a flat bottom that used to be sailed on the Dordogne. You can make a trip of about an hour on the Dordogne. Markets: -Every day or evening there is a market nearby. The best markets can be found in Sarlat. Wednesday morning the market with regional products such as truffles, cheeses, sausages, vegetables, etc. Saturday the entire day the large market with all kinds of articles such as clothing, fruit, watches, etc. Walking: -In the immediate vicinity of L'Etoile Filante are more than 100 official walking tours set out for both beginners and advanced. Maps of these tours are in the house. Further activities in the area: -golf: nearby you will find four golf courses (two 9-holes, two 18-holes) -horse riding -wine route in the Bergerac area (approximately 70 km away) -cabanes: houses and sheds that are completely consist (walls/roof) of loosely stacked stones - museums: eg nut museum in Castelnaud - prehistoric parks and places: eg La Roque Saint-Christophe - fishing - cycling
At a very short distance there is plenty to do and see in the cultural, sporting and culinary field, including:
- castles (Castelnaud, Beynac, Milandes)
- caves (Proumeyssac, Lascaux II, Maxange)
- gardens (Marqueyssac, Eyrignac, Cadiot)
- medieval towns (Sarlat, Domme, La Roque Gageac)
- water sports (canoeing on the Dordogne and Vézère and two water parks nearby)
- hiking, golf, horseback riding, cycling, fishing
- prehistoric parks and sites (Roque Saint Christophe)
- museums
- wineries and restaurants
- balloon ride
- markets and flea markets
This, and much more....

At a short distance you will find a number of fine restaurants; from simple to very exclusive. Furthermore, in high season, a wine and food evening is organized in Saint Cybranet every Friday evening on the large lawn behind the town hall (Mairie). Bring your own plate and glass (or rent it on site), walk along the many stalls and buy something to eat and drink and then sit down next to the French on the long rows of benches and tables. The city of Bergerac with its many famous wines (including Monbazillac, Pécharmant and Montravel) and wineries where often tasted and wine can be bought is 60 km away....
