Gite à la Ferme - La Salvetat

The agency that previously rented this house no longer exists - that's why we announce the existence of this house in this way and are happy to offer you the opportunity to go there. Hoping you like it there as much as we do; we have stayed here with our three children every summer for several weeks with great pleasure. And in the hope of helping the farming family find tenants for their house. To be clear: we have no financial interest in this.

What makes this truly French place so special: close to the many sights of this beautiful region, but also in a very quiet and rural location and with the possibility to help the very cordial farming family with activities on the farm (feeding cows, ducks, chickens and rabbits , bottle-feed calves and look for eggs). Very spacious garden/orchard and adjacent lake.

Layout of the house:
* Bgg: small living room with table and chairs and a (bed) sofa;
spacious simple kitchen (4 gas burners, oven, microwave, kettle, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine), table with dining chairs - a high chair is also available on request;
basic bathroom with shower and sink and a separate toilet.
* 1st floor: two spacious bedrooms under a sloping roof, once with three double beds (3 x 2 m long and 1.40 m wide), once with one bed 2 m long and 1.40 m wide, a baby cot and a changing table.
In June 2017, all beds were replaced by new beds with new mattresses.
Pillows, duvets and blankets are provided for all beds. You can rent linen and towels on site, but you can also bring your own.

There is no WiFi available in the house, but good range 3G/4G.

Large garden with some fruit trees, playset for children, five sun loungers, garden table with chairs, BBQ. Adjacent, separated from the garden by a fence, a lake (40 x 100 metres) with wonderful bathing water - jetty with stairs and slightly sloping on one side; the lake belongs to the farm and is filled with spring water from a nearby source. The lake is used as a drinking water supply for the animals and is only accessible to farm residents and tenants from home.

Where:
La Salvetat, a hamlet 30 km south-east of Périgueux, 30 km from Sarlat and about 10 km from Les Eyzies. The nearest village is Rouffignac at 5 km (restaurants, supermarket and bakery, local market on Sundays and famous prehistoric caves with rock paintings, which can be visited by train). Distance to The Hague: 1000 km.

Beautiful surroundings: the rivers Dordogne and Vézère for great canoe trips (children can go with life jackets), many castles, prehistoric caves (especially around Les Eyzies, with both stalactite formations and rock paintings), nice French villages and markets.

Bicycles can be rented in many villages (beautiful hilly cycling roads) and in the immediate vicinity there are various possibilities for horseback riding. There are also a number of amusement parks: for example educational archaeological parks and adventure parks (including a great climbing forest about 8 km away).
The first wine châteaux of Bordeaux are about 100 km away (quickly accessible by highway).

Further:
Very friendly and cordial farming family, a small-scale farm with about 60 dairy cows, ducks, chickens and rabbits. Watching the farm and occasionally helping with, for example, feeding the cows, bottle feeding calves, taking cows to pasture, feeding ducks, feeding rabbits and chickens and collecting eggs is greeted with enthusiasm, but of course not necessary. There are also dogs and cats on the farm - the dogs and cats run loose in the yard and also come into the garden of the house.
