The house is semi-detached house with a garden in front, side and rear. At the front is parking for two cars. In the sheltered garden at the back is a large terrace of 30 m2 with a pergola with grapevines in September, October give delicious grapes. In the intimate protected part of the garden at the side of the house is a cozy sitting area. The garden and terrace are several seating areas so you can choose shade or sun.
The house is home to a converted stable with barn in the traditional style of Burgundy with 70 cm thick outer walls of stacked stones and a slate roof. Electric heating in all rooms and the bathroom and the wood stove in the kitchen provide a comfortable warmth. The living area includes the kitchen and a cozy lounge with a loft and striking fireplace. In the main hall is the bathroom with shower and sink and a separate toilet. There are three spacious bedrooms upstairs. One bedroom we keep private. The house has been carefully and tastefully decorated. It has a cozy flea-like design and is fully equipped. There is WiFi and Canal Digital allows you to view all Dutch TV channels.
The kitchen is fully and comfortably furnished with all appliances and plenty of dishes, cookware and cutlery. In the storage room is the washing machine.
Your dog is welcome. The garden is enclosed and clear. In the barn there are 2 barbecues, garden chairs, a sun lounger and parasol.
The local amenities
Ouroux you can get your daily shopping at the bakery and a small supermarket. There is also a pharmacy, doctor, post office, tourist office and on Sunday morning a small market with local products. There are two cafés and a hotel restaurant. There is also a cellar where you can buy delicious wine, regionally brewed beer and foie gras. There are two ATMs.
Nature is stunning with beautiful forests, babbling brooks, waterfalls and lots of beautiful flora and fauna.
There are many small and big lakes in the Morvan. The best known are the Lac de Pannecière and Lac des Settons. Nowadays pull the lakes with secluded sandy beaches many tourists. You can sunbathe not only, but also fishing, sailing, water skiing and canoeing. You can also add some adventurous fun look with rafting and kayaking. Quiter can also: 30 km away is a bike path of 70 km to the beautiful Canal du Nivernais in flat terrain.
The house is within walking distance of the Lac de Pannecière, the largest lake of the Morvan. At the lake are wonderful sandy beaches with bathing and sanitation. There is also a restaurant with terrace. Also with anglers, this is more well-liked. There fishing for carp, bream, pike and zander.
Information about the Morvan
The Morvan is located in the Burgundy region on the border of four departments, Nièvre, Côte d'Or, Saône-et-Loire and Yonne. With its crystal-clear streams and overgrown forest paths to immerse yourself in the Shire from the set of Lord of the Rings. The hilly, rugged landscape is largely covered by coniferous and deciduous forests. In 1970 the Morvan has been declared a protected area. The landscape is therefore remained pure and untouched. You can make beautiful hiking, cycling or mountain biking from our home. As many as 4,000 km. hiking trails, equestrian trails and bike trails traverse the area. In the air you can see the buzzard hunting. But you can also spot the hops or the kingfisher. A good pair of binoculars will provide lots of fun. Of course there are also deer, roe deer, wild boars, foxes, badgers, hares and rabbits in the woods and the fields. Sturdy hiking boots are essential in the rugged terrain.
You can dine in the Morvan. Nice restaurants with menuutjes for 15 euros are the rule rather than the exception. And the food is good. We can however make a few suggestions. For wine, you do not even have to travel far. After all, we are here in Burgundy. Ouroux en Morvan is to taste and buy a cave where you fine wines. Upon arrival at our house is sure a bottle of red for you!
