Holiday house

Holiday home "Ty Traezh" is fully equipped and is located a few hundred meters from three beautiful beaches and a lovely forest.

Ty Traezh means the house by the beach in Breton and that is exactly the environment you can expect from us. From the holiday home you can walk to three different beautiful beaches and bays within a short time. And when you've had enough of the beaches and the sea, you can walk to the beautiful forest of Santec.

The holiday home is brand new (ready for rental from July 2022) and cosy, bright and modern furnished. The house has a cozy room consisting of a dining area and a sitting area with pellet stove and a beautiful open kitchen. A modern bathroom with shower and sink and a separate toilet. On the first floor two bedrooms: a bedroom with a double bed and a bedroom with two single beds.

The house has its own entrance and parking space. You can enjoy the sun on the lovely terrace where you can often hear the waves. WIFI is available.

Ty Traezh is the ideal base to discover Brittany due to its unique location. Santec is located by the sea, but the beautiful inland of Brittany is also easily accessible. In the immediate vicinity you will also find a number of nice villages such as Saint Pol de Leon, Roscoff and Carantec. In short, a perfect location for lovers of the coast, beach, nature, forest, culture, water sports enthusiasts, walkers and cyclists.

Location & tips

Additional information

You probably already know that Brittany is the land of oysters, mussels, legends and Druids. But did you know, for example, that Brittany has more hours of sunshine than the Cote d'Azur? Or that the first human presence in Brittany dates back to 5000 BC? Brittany is the westernmost province of France and is divided into 4 departments, namely Ile-et-Vilaine, Morbihan, Cotes d'Armor and Finistere. Brittany has a surface area of over 27,000 square kilometers and is home to just over 3 million people. The capital is Rennes and Brittany has 1,268 municipalities. Some well-known Bretonners include Jules Verne (writer) and Bernard Hinault (cyclist/tour winner). Our holiday home is located in the department of Finistère, literally translated as: the end of the earth, where the sea begins (Fini-terre). Brittany is also the land of legends. Think, for example, of the legend of the Knights of the Round Table, Merlin the Wizard and Tristan and Isolde. And then there's the legend of a small village on the Breton coast that resisted Roman rule. According to tradition, they were able to do this by a druid who could make a special potion. This drink made the inhabitants invincible. The story goes that one of the villagers as a little boy fell into the cauldron with magic potion and was therefore never allowed a sip again. He has never been able to settle for this..... During a visit to Brittany you will get to know medieval towns, picturesque villages, a fascinating history, mysticism, legends, an overwhelming nature, the outdoors, the coastline, good French cuisine full of fish and meat and an abundance of sporting possibilities. In addition, the people are hospitable and you do not have to spend hours and hours in traffic on the way to your holiday destination. So it's hard not to fall in love with Brittany. Anyone who has been there knows the beauty of nature, the deserted bays, the delicious cuisine and the age-old culture.
From the high cliffs on the coast to the green forests inland. From the vast sandy beaches to the mountains of the Monts d'Arree. Brittany has an overwhelming natural beauty. Brittany has two beautiful regional nature parks, namely “Parc Naturel Régional d'Armorique” and “Parc Naturel Régional de Brière”. The Parc Naturel Régional d'Armorique park has 172,000 hectares, a large part of which is maritime area. The park has a diversity of different areas. Islands, coastal region and mountain area belong to the Parc Naturel Régional d'Armorique. The Brière Natural Park is smaller and covers 40,000 hectares. Although the park is relatively smaller, it is one of the most versatile nature parks in Europe. The park is particularly known for the various water birds and extensive flora. In addition to the nature parks, you will also find 7 nature reserves in Brittany with a total area of over 1,730 hectares. The nature parks and reserves are subject to strict rules that guarantee the protection of the areas. This makes endangered animal species and plants feel very much at home in the areas.
Brittany is known for the big difference between high and low tide. You can stand in one spot and marvel at a brilliant blue expanse of water with fishing boats, while a few hours later at low tide a totally different world emerges in the same spot of sandy beaches, rocky outcrops, shells and crustaceans. The tide has the great advantage that the beach is kept clean. During a high tide, new oxygen-rich water flows into the bays, allowing flora and fauna to flourish. The tide also makes the landscape extremely varied. At high tide the fishing boats are sailing and people are sailing, diving or surfing while at low tide the Bretons search the beaches for mussels and other shellfish. Several times a day the fascinating coastal landscape changes so much that you will not get bored.
The most famous hiking route is called Sentier des Douaniers and it originated during the revolution when the paths were built by customs to guard the coastline. In the past, customs officers made their rounds here day and night to prevent smuggling and looting. Today the Sentier des Douaniers is a coastal path with a length of 1,300 kilometers. The path leads past beautiful cliffs, extensive sandy beaches and rocky outcrops. In addition, in Brittany you will find an unprecedented number of hiking and cycling trails that take you through all the nature that the region has to offer. Forest, heathland, dunes, beaches, rocks, bays, rivers, lakes and even primeval mountains, you will find it all in Brittany.
Finistere is characterized by an enormous variety of coastline. In Finistere, in addition to rugged cliffs and impressive lighthouses, you will also find quiet, child-friendly bays with white sandy beaches. In addition, our region has many authentic pictures and medieval towns such as Morlaix, Roscoff, Brest, Crozon, Quimper and Pont-Aven. Holiday home Gwez armor is located not far from the beautiful town of Morlaix. The old center of Morlaix is characterized by the characteristic harbour, medieval viaduct and half-timbered houses. Here you will find many cozy restaurants and entertainment. In the new neighborhoods of Morlaix you can often shop in shops and boutiques. Groceries are done in the gigantic supermarkets. You will also find real Breton coastal towns nearby such as Carantec, Saint Pol de Leon and Roscoff with many nice shops and good restaurants. A visit to the lively markets of these towns should not be missed. In the harbor of Roscoff you can buy fresh fish directly from the fishing boats. We are happy to put it on the barbeque for you in the evening. Brittany has always depended on the sea. All departments are located by the sea and the coast is never far away. Nevertheless, a visit to the interior is highly recommended. Here you will find impressive castles, beautiful forests and picturesque farming villages. The mountains of the Monts d'Arree are a few tens of kilometers away from your house, ideal for a beautiful day trip. The Monts d'Arree is ideal for a nice walking or cycling trip. The enchanting forest of Huelgoat or a visit to the castle of Trevarez are also worth a visit. Some sights nearby that you should not miss include the medieval burial mound Cairn de Barnenez, the castle of Kerjean, the boat trip and a walk or bike ride on ile de Batz, a visit to Chateau du Taureau in the bay of Morlaix and a visit to the Oceanopolis marine aquarium in Brest.
Brittany loves good food. You can eat out everywhere for a reasonable price. Brittany and crêpes are inextricably linked, but of course there is also a lot of fish and seafood on the menu, but meat is also very popular. Oysters come in 12 types. Each with its own specific quality and characteristics. The true connoisseur will eat the oyster raw but there are many other ways you can get your oyster served. Just like oysters, mussels are an integral part of Breton cuisine. Order a "moules frites" in any restaurant and you will receive an abundance of mussels and chips on your plate.
