We rent our station "la Gare" in central southern France, in the green heart of France, Auvergne.
The station is located very isolated on a hectare of land, and stands in a park-like garden, surrounded by meadows and woods, with no close neighbors, but still 5 km distance to all amenities (supermarket, bakery, butcher, pharmacy, tourist office, doctor, dentist etc). The station is between the villages Blomard and St Marcel en Murat.
It was once a real station and put into use in 1870 but just closed the track after the Second World War and the rails removed in the 50s. Now you can not see a trace but you can still be on the platform just soak up the view. In France are still lots of small railway stations and signalman houses but now they are sold by the French railways and most now occupied as a residence or holiday home.
Our house is fully renovated and consists of a large fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator, koffiesetapparaat, kettle, large stove and freezer. In the dining room is a large table for 6 people, downstairs a large bathroom with shower, separate toilet and washing machine. In the garden are two picnic tables and you can sit for hours in the garden around the house and you have everywhere a beautiful view over the hills and cows.
On the first floor are three bedrooms: two rooms with 2 x 2 bed of 1.60 and 1.80 x 2 m and a 3rd room with 2 x 1p bed of 0.90 x 2m (this room is accessed through another bedroom).
The house is located 430 m above sea level and is only 6 km away from the Peage A71 (sorti 11 / MONTMARAULT), less than 850 km from Utrecht. That's right the south of France and is the Allier, this county is located between the towns of Montluçon and Clermont Ferrand.
Next to the house walk two hiking - and biking trails you can walk endlessly from our house and cycling, without meeting anyone. The nearest neighbor lives 1 km away. At the station live our two Queens and two sheep and these belong to our house, so we ask our guests to take into account the care of our 'farm animals'. The cats are very social and the sheep are very tame and require little care. In our garden is also a great 'koeiendrinkersbak' present and can be used as a pool.
A 3 km you will find a beautiful forest <Forêt de Château Charles> with also a lot of hiking trails.
In the village of Lapeyrouse is visit a beautiful lake with small snack bar, restaurant, bakery and a little further on you can see the Gorges de la Sioule, a gorge where the river flows through the Sioule and where you can make a beautiful canoe trip.
Come and discover the undiscovered green heart of France, the Auvergne with its extinct volcanoes and rivers!
* In the summer we rent the house per 2 weeks
We Kor and Sylvia and love the French countryside. For a long time we come in Auvergne and live and work here. For over 14 years we have a house in France and since 4 years that a station in the Allier. We rent our house because we can not be present in the summer months.
