Manor / Castle

Manoir Medoc

The holiday home was built around 1850 and is located on the village square of Vertheuil next to the Mairie. Across the road is the historic Romanesque church and abbey. The village of Vertheuil is located in the middle of nature, between the vineyards and a few km from Pauillac and St Estephe and the wine castles.

The house is equipped with every comfort, while retaining the authentic elements such as 4m high ceilings with frames, wooden panelling, original tiled floors and fireplaces.

Ground floor: lounge, dining room, fully equipped kitchen with dining room and fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, 5-burner gas stove with electric oven and fridge and freezer. Sufficient pans, kitchen utensils and crockery are provided to prepare delicious dishes with local products.

The authentic stone staircase with iron railing leads to the first floor with 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms:

Hall, spacious bedroom with double bed and large fireplace with bathroom en-suite with bath, toilet and sink. Two bedrooms, each with a double bed. Two bedrooms, each with a single bed. Second (separate) bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Old wooden floors.

Reading books also for children, shuffleboard, puzzles, games and hiking maps are available.

Behind the house are 2 enclosed gardens (approx 300m2), 1 with total privacy. In the grange you will find a washing machine, toilet and bicycles. At the front of the house a flower bed with roses and lavender overlooking the church and the square.

In Vertheuil you can get fresh croissants and baguettes from the bakery and there is also a small supermarket where local wines are also sold. Thierry the owner can give you excellent advice.

We have lived in Bordeaux city (hour drive) with our family for 10 years. We spent the weekends with our 4 children in this lovely family home to rest, surf and swim in the ocean, ride a bicycle, experience the waves, experience grape harvests, harvest fruit from the garden, ride horses, walk through the vineyards. We come back regularly but like to share this house with its special atmosphere with our guests.
