HISTORY
It is understandable that many people think that the name Blue Bay was chosen because of the beautiful blue water in the bay. Yet this beautiful part of Curaçao was already called Blaauwbaai before 1700, after the then owner Anno Blaauw. He grew limes, oranges and - to make the name even more appropriate - the blue dye indigo. In the 20th century, the plantation became the property of the Jacobs family, who turned it into a farm. In the Second World War, American soldiers fired from Blaauwbaai with cannons at enemy submarines.
