Haus Turbes – 500 years of hospitality

Herresbach – High Fens-Eifel Nature Park

Perhaps the oldest holiday home in Belgium ... or the smallest museum?

You like undisturbed enjoyment with family or friends, then Haus Turbes is the perfect place in a traffic-calmed, dead-end street, near the wooded valley of the Weberbach. (Protected Natagora Nature Point)

The modern and functionally furnished historic farm (1552) is surrounded by a large herbicide-free garden (3000 m²) with wooden garden furniture, sunny BBQ terrace, outdoor chess board, children's games and separate football field. Parking is possible in the driveway.

Haus Turbes includes holiday homes Beverburcht also the smaller Swallow's Nest (6-8 pers + 2 kids, 3 bedrooms, bathrooms with double shower, 2 toilets).

Beverburcht (up to 20 persons) Spacious living room with attractive wood stove (and electric heating), fully equipped kitchen with stove, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, oven, mixer, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, dishwasher ... Ecological dishwashing and dishwashing products, garbage bags, coffee filters … you don't have to bring it. Not even bottled water. The municipality of Amel provides spring water on the water supply network.

6 bedrooms (2 bedrooms on the 1st floor for 2 and 2 for 4 persons. On the 2nd floor bedroom for 2 and 7 persons) Beds with quality slatted bases, mattresses and anti-allergic duvets guarantee a wonderful night's sleep. 3 bathrooms, 3 toilets.

The red and white marked Great Route Path GR 56, the MTB route and the go.eastbelgium-app hiking trail network (route junction 51 – 59) run past the house. Commented maps of looped tours departing from the front door are available. For those who like to cycle (flat): on the old railway bed of the Vennbahn, you can go in all directions. (Aachen, Stavelot, Lake Bütgenbach, Monschau, Prüm, Troisvierges…)

As soon as snow falls in Belgium, it is beautifully white in Herresbach (600 m altitude). The Botrange is nearby, but the immediate neighborhood is just as beautiful ... and much quieter! Cross-country and alpine skiing is possible in the immediate vicinity. Let's get the sleds ready!

The house is smoke-free, pets also keep watch at home in the absence of their owner. Youth, student and bachelor weekends will certainly find other suitable locations.

Haus Turbes and the whole area breathes history. The house is named after the peat that occurs in the peat areas. With the major crop failures in the middle of the 19th century, the Turbes family emigrated to the New World. All Turbes in America have Haus Turbes in common. The former owner Jozef Riga went missing in 1943 on the Eastern Front near Kiev in Ukraine ... Here the Battle of the Bulge literally passed by. Foxholes and bomb holes in the woods ... You can still count the bullet holes in the pews of Herresbach ...

We are happy to answer individual questions or interests of our guests, because a carefree, relaxed holiday for our guests is our greatest pleasure.
