Chalet

Our recently renovated and fully equipped detached holiday home is located close to the Grossglockner. The house is located in an authentic village with many amenities. Due to its location on the south side of the Alps, this area has many hours of sunshine. There are 3 ski areas in the vicinity of 55 km, 37 km and 17 km respectively, 1 of which has eternal snow. The free ski bus stops in front of the door and will drop you off at the ski lift in Heiligenblut within fifteen minutes. The ski areas are among the highest in Austria, so they are quite guaranteed with snow.

Zwei Tannen has free WiFi.

You can take wonderful walks from home, but with a few minutes' drive you are also in the middle of the high mountains where you can start your walk. In less than half an hour you can be in Lienz, a pleasant city with an Italian atmosphere and an extensive range of shops. The lakes of Carinthia are also within driving distance, and the Weissensee is certainly worth a visit. You can swim there or rent a boat.

The house is a 10-minute drive from Heiligenblut, a quiet ski village with a pleasant après-ski. Even in high season there are no waiting times at the lift! The Mölltal Glacier (eternal snow) and the Lienzer Bergbahnen are a half-hour drive away. Next to the house there is a large ski area, which is prepared daily by snow cannons and is very suitable as a practice area and for small children.

See more tips for activities in the area at the bottom of this site.

Our house has 8 very comfortable hotel beds and an additional double sofa bed in one of the bedrooms. Given the quiet location, a good night's sleep is guaranteed!

The house has very spacious living areas. Because there are two floors, it offers sufficient privacy for larger groups. On the upper floor there is a large and small bedroom with a total of 4 beds, the living room, the kitchen and a bathroom. On the ground floor there is the second bathroom and 2 very large bedrooms, 1 of which has a flat screen TV.

House layout:

Through the entrance you enter a spacious hall with extensive storage space for skis and ski boots.

The cozy living room with luxurious wood-burning stove has comfortable armchairs and a sofa. There is also an 8-person Austrian seating area. There is a stereo set with DVD player and a Smart TV (with streaming). You receive all Dutch-language channels via satellite. From the room you reach the balcony with a view of the mountains. This means you can even sit outside when it rains and thunderstorms.

The separate kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, oven, ceramic hob, coffee maker, kettle, refrigerator and freezer. You don't have to use the dishwasher often, because there is plenty of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils available.

On the upper floor there are 2 bedrooms, 1 large with 2 beds and a smaller one with 2 beds. There is also a luxurious bathroom with shower, toilet and bathroom furniture.

On the ground floor there are 2 very large bedrooms with 2 beds each. In one bedroom there is a TV with all Dutch channels, a DVD player, a game console with games and other toys. There is also a luxurious spacious bathroom with shower, toilet and bathroom furniture. The bathroom has a new AEG washing machine and dryer.

The garden around the house has good sunlight and there is plenty of garden furniture.

The house is also easily accessible in winter.

There is a friendly key manager present who you can contact with any questions.

At 600 m distance there is a new, large supermarket with fresh bread department, a bank and a butcher's shop. There are several restaurants within walking distance.

After visiting many mountain areas in Austria and Switzerland, we ended up in Grosskirchheim in 2015. We immediately felt at home here: the population is very friendly, it is well-organized and small-scale. You can walk safely with the whole family and yet you are in the middle of the high mountains. More challenging tours are therefore also possible! There are many other (sports) options in the village and surroundings. And last but not least: Carinthia is known for its many hours of sunshine!

Additional information

At 600 m there is a new, large supermarket with fresh bread department, a bank and a butcher's shop. Several restaurants are within walking distance. Grosskirchheim is another authentic Austrian village that is not overcrowded with tourists. It is located in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park, with the Grossglockner as the literal highlight. It is a beautiful nature reserve. In the village there are: - Public swimming pool - Football and tennis fields - Climbing wall - Playground - Rutschbaan - Large covered shooting tunnel
Activities around the village: • Cycling • Mountain biking • In the immediate vicinity of the house there are many hiking possibilities of varying degrees of difficulty. There are many hiking maps and a hiking booklet in the house. It is nice that you can drive far into the side valleys by car before you start the walk. You are then immediately at a considerable height and therefore do not have to go through endless forests before you reach the high mountains. The paths along the river are suitable for strollers and the elderly. Highlighted a number of fun activities: • A spectacular waterfall (Gartl Wasserfall) is half an hour's walk away. • The Grossglockner Hochalpin Strasse. This road starts at a 10 minute drive from our house. Beautiful views, many museums, eateries and of course hiking opportunities. Very touristic. • The Goldgraberdorf just past Heiligenblut. Free entrance, gold washing paid. Fun with kids! • There is an indoor swimming pool in Heiligenblut. • A round trip via the Zirknitz Schluft from Döllach itself (one and a half hours). Departure via the road on the right just before the bridge over the river (from the side of our house) • Astental. Up from Mörtschach. Quite a long drive up, but a beautiful area with many hiking opportunities. Our favorite valley in the area. • Lienz. Cozy town, with many shops and terraces. Italian atmosphere. • Raggaschluft near Rangersdorf. Spectacular walk. • To Winklerhütte (on the road from Winklern to Lienz). Off beautiful "höhen wanderung" along the Mölltal, where you can walk 50 meters up to a beautiful lake after an hour. • Drive a little further (1 hour) to Kals am Grossglockner. From there on the family road through the Dorferstal. A very easy and varied walk, with an arrival at the idyllic Dorfersee after 9 km (only 500 meters ascent in total). • Also drive a little further (1 hour): the Virgental. • The rodelbahn in Lienz (when you enter Lienz from Matrei, immediately right). A favorite of our kids. • The castle in Lienz (next to the Rodelbahn), with a beautiful collection of art (especially from Egger-Lienz) • An hour's drive: the Weissensee. Is idyllically situated between the mountains. You can rent an electric boat or a pedal boat here and then tour the lake. And of course you can swim! • The Mölltal Glacier. More than half an hour's drive. You then take an elevator to the eternal snow. Always a special sensation in the summer. • The Seebachtal, approx. 45 minutes drive. Beautiful wide hiking valley with waterfalls. Well touristic. • Rafting (half an hour's drive away, on the road from Lienz to Matrei). • Over the Plöckenpass to Italy. The nearest town is Udine, a beautiful, truly Italian town. • Via the Defereggental to Italy. This is a very beautiful valley and the pass to Italy is special: you can only drive to Italy once an hour and vice versa.
