Holiday home Osterglocken is located in the High Fens/Eifel nature park, within walking distance of the historic center of Monschau (7 km) at an altitude of 522 m above sea level. Our hamlet Küchelscheid of about 70 inhabitants is located on the Küchelscheider Walt on the border with Germany and at the confluence of the Schwarzbach with the Rur. The forest with peat lakes, babbling brooks and beautiful views, all accessible on foot from the house. A region for walking, cycling, mountain biking... with walking, cycling junctions, mountain bike routes. In addition, the region is dotted with small and large cities, historical points and everywhere you will find sports and other accommodation, nice restaurants and brasseries.
The gîte, whose foundations date from before 1910, built with traditional half-timbering, has a beautifully landscaped "natural garden" of 2360 m². There are garden benches here and there to enjoy the view. The whole is equipped for plenty of play for children and less small children, both indoors and outdoors: swings (4), slide, gymnastics frame, geodoom, climbing frame & football goal, cable car, hammock... also including badmington, Kubb, indoor shuffleboard, table tennis , ping pong, darts, games cabinet.... The house can rightly be called child-friendly.
The gîte has been authentically preserved and was adapted to contemporary comfort standards in 2014 and 2018. The house is recognized by the Deutschprachige Gemeinschaft of Belgium. There are 5 bedrooms, two of which serve as one family room for parents and children/baby. There is a spacious kitchen, living room with dining and sitting area and a large sliding door connected to the terrace and garden.: Maximum 10 people. The house is very spacious and comfortable, where everyone will find their place, alone or with the other housemates.
The garden is our showpiece, eco-friendly: no pesticides or herbicides. Herbs, small fruit (edible forest style) are available on site for guests if they are staying in the house at the time. A hundred out romping in the garden? Organizing a full-time cycling holiday? Want to discover the wild daffodils within walking distance? Would you like to visit the High Fens, the highest points in Belgium and settle down with an artisanal Peak beer on the Botrange? Want to explore German forests and reservoirs? Planning a family trip with visits to medieval villages and towns, castles and fortresses, small and large walks, water fun in the summer or cross-country skiing fun during the winter months? The High Fens/Eifel are the ultimate hiking and cycling paradise, winter, summer.
Want to de-stress, relax or explore the region at your own pace? Everything is possible. This region is the ideal environment in every season to relax in nature, not far from home and yet completely different.
We focus on ecology, no pesticides, in and around the house and respecting local life in and around the green environment. Allergy sufferers are very welcome, which is why we do not allow pets.

Renting the gte means coming home and enjoying. For us, love for the old house/garden and comfort (without dazzling gadgets) are central.
It is logical that we harmonize old and new, nature and culture. The "house" with a total habitable surface of 240 m², spacious beds... Grandma and grandpa with children and grandchildren, everyone will find their own thing. Children can still be a child there and romp and play unbridled. Adults de-stress completely here. Nothing is necessary, everything is possible.

Explanation of prices

Included: energy (within normal consumption), water, internet, TV, final cleaning (if the house is left tidy), insurance.... There is a charging station for electric cars. Municipal tourist tax 1.5 € per adult/night.

The house is a family holiday home for 10 people, including children (including babies). There are 2 extra cots. 25% is charged as a deposit upon reservation, the remainder at least 3 weeks before departure. Last minute bookings within the week of departure will not be accepted unless full payment appears in our account at least 2 days before departure.
Booking from 3 nights. Price per night €300, deposit €300. From January 2024 there will be a Smappee EV Wall lite, a charging point for electric cars. Of course, charging electric cars is not included in the all-in price and will be charged separately.
Returners receive a 10% discount.
