Everything runs on sustainably purchased electricity, the rainwater is collected in a rain barrel and the garden is fenced off. Walking and cycling
There is much to do in the area. The house also includes 2 standard bicycles. There is a double socket in the shed, where you can easily charge your electric bicycles. You can rent (electric) bicycles at the Mous bicycle shop in Balk. For example, cycle the 10 forests route... The walker can also indulge himself in the Gaasterland. There are beautiful walking forests, especially near Rijs, but also in places such as Sloten, Oudemirdum (off-leash routes for your dog, including the Dog Forest) and the woods near Balk, it is wonderful to walk. You can walk along the Slotermeer from the holiday home.

There are also many activities for your children: e.g. the Woudagemaal in Lemmer (best outing in Friesland '13), the Kameleondorp in Terherne, Aqua Zoo and the Nature Museum in Leeuwarden, the Planetarium in Franeker, Walibi in Biddinghuizen, the Mar en Klif nature museum in Oudemirdum, the Model Railway Museum, Fries Scheepvaart Museum and the cinema in Sneek, not to mention sailing and surfing lessons, which are given in abundance in Balk.
Ideal area for water sports enthusiasts!
Sloops through the Gaasterland forests and nature reserves or boating, sailing, swimming, surfing and fishing on the Slotermeer. Everything is possible! The Slotermeer is a nice quiet and shallow lake, without commercial shipping. Ideal for children, for example, to learn how to surf and sail. The average depth in the park and in the Slotermeer is 1.40 metres. There is also a fairway, which is deeper. A separate lane has been reserved for fast motorboats in the Slotermeer.
Sailing options
There is a direct connection to the Slotermeer and the other Frisian lakes. In the area you will find beautiful nature reserves, which can be navigated directly from the park via the old stream De Luts, which leads through Balk and the beautiful Gaasterland forests. Nearby are nice water sports places such as Woudsend, IJLst, Sneek, Sloten and Heeg.
Bad weather activities
When the weather is bad, a visit to Sneek is recommended (Model Railway and Maritime Museum and cinema). Furthermore, you can relax shopping in Sneek or have lunch at one of the cozy catering establishments (including De Walrus). The Jopie Huisman museum in Workum and the Woudagemaal in Lemmer are also well worth a visit.

Location Markant
The bungalow park is located on the Slotermeer. The bungalow is also located near the once voted "most beautiful terrace in Friesland": "Badmeester Keimpe". Both inside and outside this cozy and good restaurant offers a beautiful view of the Slotermeer and the surrounding forests. There is also a beautiful natural golf course in the middle of the woods near Oudemirdum. Balk has a lively center with clothing stores, bakery, butcher, fishmonger, bookstore, drugstores, shoe stores, HEMA, BLOKKER, various restaurants (Ch, Fr, NL, It) and supermarkets (Plus, Poiesz and Lidl).
Dog off-leash areas
The dog is allowed in the Balkster forest in Balk. Dogs are also allowed to run loose in the Dog Forest near Oudemirdum. Pay close attention to the signs.
